Sweet horses and ride guide! - Gustavo was fantastic! Good communication and he patiently stayed with us the entire time since I’m pretty nervous around horses. It was a beautiful ride. The horses were so sweet and gentle and seemed very healthy and happy! Thanks for a great experience.

Horseback Beach Ride - Highly recommend the beach riding with The Riding Adventure ! Easy to schedule on What’s App even last minutes. They were able to accommodate our family of 6 for a beach tour. Tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable, horses were healthy and easy to ride even for a beginner.

An Amazing, Beautiful Beach Ride!! - I’m an avid rider with half a dozen horses at home and I’ve ridden all over the world so I have high standards for riding abroad. Well taken care of horses obviously tops the list! I researched carefully before booking and I was not disappointed! These guys are GREAT and the horses were well trained, happy, healthy, shiny and clearly loved. The sunset was AMAZING and my horse was wonderful! Responsive, forward and cooperative with lovely gaits. The tack was well kept and safe. If I’d had another day there I would have booked again for the following night! THANK YOU!! Side note: the inexperienced riders weren’t allowed to ride with bits, which was pretty cool and it’s something I haven’t seen done before. They were ridden with bitless bridles and just stayed with the group. Our guide was great about taking photos too, which I really appreciate as a solo traveler!!

Sunset horseback riding - Our tour guide Adrian was amazing and we very much enjoyed our tour. These horses are well taken care of and loved. Adrian held onto my phone for the majority of the time and took so many beautiful photos. The beach was huge and empty. So incredible. Definitely go on this tour if you are thinking about horseback riding in Costa Rica, you won't regret your decision

Bucket list item checked! - What a fabulous day! We booked a private small group horseback riding day and had the best time ever. When we arrived, the horses were all ready for us, and we headed out with Eldian (I'm sure I'm not spelling that right!) for the beach. Once we arrived, we saw that the beach was virtually deserted with huge expanses for us to ride on. We had a nice mix of leisurely walking, some adventurous racing and cantering, splashed in the waves, visited the mangrove forest, and walked along the private homes in the area. Overall we were on the horses for over 2 hours and had an amazing time. Our guide was so knowledgeable (his family owns the ranch where we were) and he was incredibly friendly and shared so much with us. Best of all, he was an expert at taking photos using my iPhone and we got a ton of great ones! Highly recommend this experience!

Amazing! - At the last minute my daughter (14 yrs old and an experienced rider) mentioned that she wanted to ride on the beach. I emailed The Riding Adventure and asked if they had a time available. Not only did they have a time for us, Diego was flexible since we were driving from Antonio. He and his brother, Adrián, were so kind when we had a mix up in location. (Double check if you are meeting at the ranch or the beach). Both locations are right off the main road. Very easy to get to. Now for the best part... we did the 1 hour special ride on the beach for families. It was breathtaking!!!! The beach is beautiful. The horses were well kept and healthy. In addition to the experienced rider of the family, they accommodated myself, my husband, my son (16), and 2 daughters (8 and 10). Each of us have only ridden once or twice. Diego was able to guide my youngest daughters while the rest of us managed our own horses. At the end of the ride he allowed my older daughter to canter. She loved it!!!!!! She is still smiling hours later-pretty impressive for a moody teenager. There were 2 other riders with us. It was the perfect size group. The point where we accessed the beach was at Hotel Pelicano. We were able to use the restrooms and hang out on the beach a little bit after our ride. Very nice! I can’t say enough about Diego and his brother! They were so sweet! It was a highlight of our trip.

Would not recommend - disorganized - I had such high hopes for this tour after reading the reviews but we were disappointed unfortunately and wouldn’t recommend it to a friend. There are other horseback riding tours on the beach nearby that would be worth looking into instead. The beach was beautiful and the ride was lovely. Our guide Eli was very nice and helpful as well. However, everything else was pretty unorganized and not as expected. Communication with Diego was slow and not super clear leading up to the tour. We were told to meet at the ranch for the tour and from what I read we would ride from there to the beach. When we arrived no one was there to greet us. One of the ranch hands told us that they already left with the horses and to try and drive to find them. We ran into Gustavo (Diego’s brother) who told us to follow him in his van to the Hotel Pelicano where the horses were. We were so confused. And it wasn’t a language barrier because I speak Spanish. They told us we needed to wait about 30 mins in case it rains. By the time the tour started, an hour had passed from our start time but the ride only ended up being an hour anyway (we booked two hours) and it was supposed to come with a snack which didn’t happen. The horses didn’t seem the happiest and a couple of them had wounds (one looked like it was from a whip unfortunately). Overall we made the best of it and Eli was really nice and took lovely pictures and videos for us (it wasn’t his fault it was disorganized) but we wouldn’t use this company again. The couple we were grouped with for the tour also said their experience was disorganized and confusing as well. And my horse didn’t even like the water at all so it would try to stay as far from the waves as possible haha oh well.

Terrible Owner and Business Practices - DO NOT book with this scam artist! I booked a tour for 20 people at 2 different times for Aug 20th. I had to cancel the bookings and did that well in advance of the Aug 20th date. It is now September 18th and I still have not received my refund. Every time I reach out to the owner, he tells a date of when I can expect my refund but then he never sends it! I was supposed to get my refund August 20th, then he changed it to August 25th, then to September 1st, then to September 12th, and now he hasn't responded to me after my inquiry again. I have filed a claim with my bank and will certainly be reaching out to local authorities.

Don’t miss this great ride! This company has been operating for 30+ years. The horses are treated very well. - We had a wonderful beach walk/ride at sunset on La Bejuco beach. There were only four in our group and one cowboy. Adrian was fantastic, so tender with his horses. And very polite and kind to us. ( 60+women) he used our phones and made videos and took pictures for us at no additional charge. We asked to go faster and after he was confident with our riding skills permitted us to canter. It was excellent. We booked directly with them via email. Highly recommend this company.
