- Temple of Khnum - An expert tour guide will collect guests from their Luxor location (Hotel, Nile Cruise port) at their preferred pick-up time (refer to the departure time field) and accompany them to explore the Esna Temple. This temple is dedicated to the triad of Khnum, Neith, and their offspring Heka. Originally, the Temple of Esna was designed similarly to the temples of Hathor at Dendera and Horus at Edfu, but today only the hypostyle hall remains, which was constructed by the Roman Emperor Claudius, who expanded upon earlier structures.
The Esna temple dates back to the reign of Thutmose II (1493 to 1479 BC), with the remnants of Latopolis belonging to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. The visible part of the temple today is approximately a quarter of the original structure’s size.
The site is renowned for the beauty and grandeur of its architecture, constructed from red sandstone on the west bank of the Nile.
Upon completion of the tour, guests will be transported back to their hotel in Luxor.
