Additional Information

Put on your Augmented Reality smart glasses for a one-of-a-kind, creative, and engaging walking experience at the historical ruin of Herculaneum. Journey back to the year 79 AC and visualize the town squares and residences of Herculaneum prior to their destruction by a volcanic eruption.

Convene with your tour guide at the primary entrance of Herculaneum and gear up with your AR glasses. Before embarking on the tour, listen to a short tutorial on operating the glasses. The tour, curated by a team of archaeologists, will give you a glimpse into life in Herculaneum before the cataclysm.

The smart glasses software produces holograms that superimpose on the existing ruins, providing a visualization of how the most important temples, homes, and structures looked in their original form. Dive deep into the world of ancient Herculaneum, navigating the city as if you were a Roman citizen.

Explore the wreckage with your intimate group, and keep in mind that our tour caters to individuals of all age groups!

VR is a novelty but a welcome one. - The VR is simple but effective. It added a nice dimension to the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and very personable. It is not a big site and this tour seemed to cover all the basics with an interesting twist.

Excellent tour, 3D worked well - Herculaneum is a must see when visiting Naples; for us, the 3D tour and guide was the right choice. Chiara our guide was knowledgeable, bubbly and enthusiastic. In combination with the 3D glasses, Chiara brought Herculaneum to life for us. We overhead other tourists without guides theorising about the function and purpose of rooms and structures and missing by a mile; pay for a guide is our advice, visit in the morning when it is quieter and temperature is less hot and go for the 3D experience which will help to visualise various houses and streets as they were when Herculaneum was a bustling and thriving town.

Padre goes to Herculaneum - Having visited Pompeii a few years ago, I have wanted to visit Ercolaneo Scavi which did during my three week stay in Rome. A former parishioner whom I baptized and I traveled by train to Naples and then on the local to Ercolaneo Scavi to see ancient Herculaneum. The guide was excellent and her knowledge of the site was remarkable. We really enjoyed our visit. I will return!

Herculaneum is a memorable experience. - Overall, this was a great experience. We had a wonderful tour guide, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Using 3D technology to see rendering of the past was helpful, although the headset around your neck for the duration of the tour is a bit tiring. All that said, we would do this same tour again. Thank you so much!

Suggestive walk around - Thanks to Chiara ,that is a lovely young woman, we could walk throug the Ercolano Ruins discovering by the 3d glasses what it should have look like , its colours, daily life , architecture. Ercolano is a smaller but different site from Pompei but also worthing a visit to understand how the eruption affected differently . Thanks Chiara

Definitely visit, just not with this. - After visiting Pompeii we decided to book this. Whilst Herculanium is amazing and well worth your time, don't bother with this. We were escorted by a guide who at certain points just advised us to put glasses on and press a button for an audio presentation. The tech didn't perform that well as it was raining. Would have much preferred the guide to inform us. Either just pay to get into the ruins or go with a professional guide,

Herculaneum is fabulous but this tour ruins it - The glasses are barely useful and the recorded commentary with them is not only brief and boring but only available at a few fixed points where the glasses are activated. The tour guide merely shuffles the group from one place to another before telling you to turn the glasses on again. This means that you are whisked past 99% of the site without a moment to appreciate or learn anything at all. After two stops this was obvious, so we handed the glasses back and started the tour again having completely wasted our time spent with the pleasant but useless guide.
