If you're on the fence, book now - you won't regret it. - We recently returned from a 10-day customized trip with Home to Africa and it met every expectation and then some. Hedmond was patient, responsive and thorough in answering all of our questions beforehand and the payment system made it quick and easy to book. The cost was a great value for everything that's included and the option to upgrade hotels made it easy to customize what we wanted. All of the accommodations were excellent and unique and the staff were always incredibly kind and welcoming. In particular, we would definitely recommend Twiga Safari Lodge and Elephant Hab - hearing hippos grunting and seeing elephants from your room is definitely worth the upgrade, and the staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We were very fortunate to have been assigned to Derrick as our guide - he made the trip memorable in so many ways. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, the parks, the culture, etc., but more than that, he is funny and real and personable and shared in a way that made you feel more like locals than tourists. It was clear everywhere we stayed and went that he is well known, respected and liked which speaks volumes for who he is and that came through every day. He knew what we were hoping to see and was working behind the scenes anytime he could to make sure we had the best experience possible. For me, a good guide takes you where you want to go but an exceptional guide experiences it with you sharing in your excitement even if it's their 100th time - Derrick was exceptional in every way. Home to Africa built the framework for an incredible trip and made it easy to execute and Derrick fulfilled every request with positivity, a calm assurance and laughter - so much laughter! We would absolutely recommend them for your future travels to Africa!

Incredible! Absolutely Incredible!! - We had the honour and pleasure of meeting perhaps the most incredible Ambassador for Home to Africa! Derrick asked what we were hoping to see during our adventure and he made every wish come true! He was informative, observant of our needs and requests and met us every day with a smile on his face. From the birds, mammals to the reptiles, to the people and to the food! Everything about this trip was amazing . Especially because of the experience, training and professionalism of our guide, Derrick! Thank you for an amazing time my Friend! "No Banana, No Party!"

Incredible!!! - We just completed a 10-day custom tour with Home to Africa. Booking was made easy with Derrick & Hedmond, who quickly responded to all emails, and worked with us to put together the perfect itinerary. We stayed at a mix of budget and mid-level hotels, and they were all excellent. We especially loved Elephant Hab and Twiga Safari Lodge. Payment was easy with their online payment system. We had an amazing experience and loved every moment of our trip. But the best part of our trip, was by far, our guide, Derrick. From the moment he picked us up, the laughs were non-stop! He answered all our questions, spotted all the animals we hoped to see and put us on the best gorilla trek! Everywhere we went, people knew him & liked him. He went above and beyond, every day, to make sure we had the best day, and we did. At the end of our 10 days, he was more of a friend, than a guide, and it was hard to say goodbye. I highly recommend Home to Africa! I hope we get the chance to travel with them again! Thank you!!

An incredible life-changing solo experience! - I cannot say enough good things about Home to Africa. From start to finish, this trip was exceptionally well planned and executed, and I felt supported every step of the way. Hedmond was wonderful to work with from the beginning. He communicated clearly, answered my many questions, and thoughtfully designed an itinerary that fit my interests perfectly. Traveling solo to Uganda felt like a big leap, but Hedmond’s planning gave me complete confidence before I even arrived. And then there’s Derrick Rukundo—my guide—who truly made this trip extraordinary. Derrick was knowledgeable, kind, professional, and an absolute joy to travel with. He went above and beyond every single day to make sure I felt safe, comfortable, and fully immersed in the experience. His knowledge of Uganda’s wildlife, parks, and culture was incredible, and his calm, caring presence made this solo journey feel both empowering and unforgettable. During our safari, he was getting calls regarding wildlife. He would stop and let the other guides know also. When I asked why he was getting calls and other guides weren’t, he said “I’m famous”. And I believe it! Every place I stayed knew Derrick! I was so sad to have to say goodbye! The gorilla trek itself was nothing short of magical. It was expertly coordinated, well paced, and one of the most awe-inspiring experiences of my life. Standing just feet away from a gorilla family in their natural habitat is something I will never forget, and I felt completely supported and well cared for throughout the entire trek. Derrick made sure I had a woman porter to help me in the trek. He lined her up the day before. He said “you’ll want a woman because at times she’ll be behind you pushing!” He was right! She was amazing too! Because of Home to Africa, I had one of the most meaningful travel experiences of my life. I explored multiple national parks, experienced extraordinary wildlife, and accomplished something I am incredibly proud of—traveling solo in Africa. I will treasure these memories forever and would recommend Home to Africa without hesitation to anyone considering a trip to Uganda or beyond.

Absolutely Unforgettable – Thanks to Derek! - I can’t recommend Home To Africa Tours and Travel highly enough! From start to finish, every moment of our safari and adventure in Uganda felt expertly crafted, smooth and full of wonder. The team truly delivers on their promise of personalised, high-quality tours across East Africa. But what really made our trip extraordinary was our guide — Derek. He wasn’t just knowledgeable, he was genuinely passionate about sharing the beauty, culture and wildlife of Uganda with us. From the moment we met him, Derek’s warmth, enthusiasm, and deep insight into the places we visited made us feel welcomed and excited every single day. Whether spotting elusive animals, explaining local traditions, or navigating tricky terrain with reassuring confidence, he did it all with a smile and a contagious sense of joy. Every drive turned into a learning experience, every stop was an opportunity for exploration, and every question we asked was met with thoughtful and interesting answers. Derek’s professionalism and friendliness transformed what could have been a great trip into something truly unforgettable. If you’re considering a safari or adventure with Home To Africa, ask for Derek — you won’t regret it! His knowledge, kindness, and commitment to an incredible experience were the highlights of this once-in-a-lifetime journey.

Best Tour with the Best Guide Karim - Absolutely phenomenal experience, Karim was a very intelligent and patient guide. One of our team mates was dropping atomic bombs for the entire safari and Karim was very polite, never mentioned it while we were all dying 😂. Accommodations were comfortable and safe, food was good, and company was fantastic. If you want to go, do it with Karim!

Exceptional!!! - Hello, We were 2 friends and we personalized the tour by adding 1 day to Mabamba Wetlands (to see the Nile Hoofbill), and an extra day of gorilla trekking - 14 days and 13 nights. Thank you to Derrick and Hedmond who took care of our reservation before our arrival and are super responsive. On site, our driver Danny was exceptional: very good advice, good driving, always smiling, dynamic and we had a wonderful stay thanks to him. Uganda is a beautiful country, the scenery, the animals, and the people are amazing and this agency is trustworthy!

10/10, WONDERFULL TIME IN UGANDA! - I had an unforgettable safari experience in Uganda with this company. Everything was perfectly organized and delivered with warm hospitality. Visiting Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the rhinos up close was incredible, and trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to encounter the majestic mountain gorillas was truly the highlight of my trip. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate, making every game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park both exciting and educational. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable adventure in Uganda.
