Journey to Jinja for a Sunset Boat Safari on the Nile, Exploring the Source of the Nile via Sezibwa Falls & Mabira Forest Reserve
Jinja - Begin your day with breakfast before driving through Kampala, heading east along the Kampala-Jinja highway to Jinja, the home of the Source of the Nile. Along the way, enjoy views of coffee, tea, and sugar plantations, as well as vibrant roadside fruit and vegetable markets.
Your first optional stop is at Sezibwa Falls. The name “Ssezibwa” is a local term meaning “something endless.” The Sezibwa Falls are a significant cultural and spiritual site for the Baganda people and are among the top attractions in Uganda. Managed by the Buganda culture and tourism department, the falls feature sharp-edged rocks and a large pool below. The Ssezibwa River flows from the falls to Lake Kyoga. The area is home to small primates like Vervet and red-tailed monkeys, as well as snakes like the African cobra, green mambas, and horned adders. Other wildlife includes otters, tadpoles, mongooses, and wild cats.
Mabira Central Forest Reserve - Alternatively, you can choose to visit Mabira Rainforest, the largest forest in Central Uganda. Here, you can enjoy zip-lining or a two-hour trek to track the habituated Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, observe numerous birds, monkeys, and squirrels, and savor the aroma of an African jungle.
After your optional activities at Mabira Central Forest Reserve, return to the main road and drive to Jinja for lunch. Then, embark on a sunset boat safari to the spot where John Speke discovered the source of the Nile.
Following your sunset boat safari, check in to Nile River Camp, Brisk Hotel Triangle, or Afro Smile Hotel & Guest House for dinner and an overnight stay.
Lunch, dinner, and bottled drinking water are included.

Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s most remote national park, but those who make the journey north through the wild frontier region of Karamojong agree it is also the most magnificent, ranking among Africa’s finest wildernesses.
Arrive at Kidepo Valley National Park in the afternoon, have lunch, and embark on an afternoon/evening (sunset) game drive. Expect to see various animals such as zebras, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and lions.
After your game drive, check in to Kidepo Savannah Lodge or Zebra Safari Lodge – Kidepo for dinner and an overnight stay.

Giraffes, lions, antelope, and waterbucks can also be spotted, and if you search the trees carefully, you may even spot elusive leopards.
In the afternoon, visit the Karamojong/IK Community. Spend time in a Karamojong/IK village, learning about their traditional way of life, traditional kraals, dances, manyattas, and colorful blankets. Enjoy a wonderful evening with the Karamojong & IK people, gaining insight into their way of life and beliefs. By the end of the tour, you will understand why their pride makes them slow to adapt to globalization.
Return to your preferred accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bottled drinking water are included.
Travel to Murchison Falls National Park for an Afternoon (Sunset) Game Drive
Murchison Falls National Park - After breakfast, drive southwest to Murchison Falls NP, Uganda’s largest national park. The drive takes you through Karamojong villages, offering splendid views of the countryside with several stopovers for landscape and scenic viewing. Stop in Gulu town for lunch and to purchase items before proceeding to the park.
Arrive at Murchison Falls NP in the afternoon, have lunch, and embark on an afternoon game drive. Expect to see elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and giraffes, and keep your fingers crossed for lions and leopards. The game track network converges at Delta Point, where the Nile flows north out of Lake Albert; this is a convenient place to stop for refreshments and view water birds offshore and distant hippos.
Afterward, check in to Fort Murchison Lodge, Red Chilli Hideaway, or Hornbill Bush Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Morning (Sunrise) Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Safari on Victoria/Nile River & Sunset Game Drive, Murchison Falls NP
Murchison Falls National Park - Enjoy a safari breakfast before dawn to start your morning game drive as the sun rises. Sunrise is the best time for wildlife spotting, as animals are most active during the “golden hours” when the first rays of sunshine illuminate the savannah. Elephants, buffaloes, and several species of antelope are some of the animals you may encounter, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a lion or leopard.
Return for lunch in the afternoon and embark on a 3-hour boat safari upstream on the Victoria Nile to the falls. Pass by breathtaking scenery, as well as many crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, and animals that come down to the Nile. The boat will drop you near the waterfall for a hike (1-1.5 hrs) up to the top of the falls.
Enjoy a short sunset game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Top of the Falls Walk & Transfer to Kibale National Park for a Guided Walk in Nature at Crater Lakes & Plantation Walk
Fort Portal - On this day, enjoy your last sunrise and breakfast in this beautiful national park in Uganda with a walk to the top of Murchison Falls for about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Marvel at the immensely powerful falls, caused by the 50m-wide Nile being funneled into a 7-meter cleft in the rocks. Dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar, the falls create a beautiful rainbow and an impressive plume of spray—they were once described as the most spectacular thing to happen to the Nile along its 6700-kilometer length.
Immediately start your journey from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park through Fort Portal town. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and tea fields along the way, with several stopovers for beautiful scenery and landscape viewing before reaching Fort Portal for lunch at Fort Portal Garden Restaurant.
Kibale National Park - In the afternoon, after lunch, go for a guided Crater Lakes & Plantation Walk. The landscape south of Fort Portal is dotted with picturesque crater lakes, some over 400m deep. These crater lakes are breathtakingly beautiful and offer one of the best hiking places in the area. The hikes lead you through several crater lakes, villages, tea plantations, and waterfalls.
After your guided Crater Lakes & Plantation Walk, check in to Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve & Community Campsite, Kibale Forest Camp, or Kibale Forest Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bottled drinking water are included.
Visit to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary & Transfer to Semuliki National Park for a Guided Walk in Nature
Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary - After breakfast, delve deeper into the forest on a Swamp Walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, home to 8 primate species, over 200 bird species, butterflies, and various reptiles. The vegetation in this swamp is also a key attraction for plant lovers. Some travelers visit this jungle swamp to study the different plant types it holds. Dominant plant species in this swamp include common papyrus, polita fig trees, and wild palms. Alternatively, visit Kibale National Park for a Chimpanzees Tracking/Trekking experience (optional).
Guided Walk in Nature at Amabere Caves & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an Afternoon (Sunset) Game Drive
Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves - After breakfast, enjoy a guided walk in nature at Amabere caves, where you can view stalagmites, crater lakes, birds, and hill climbing, among other activities. Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves is a historic site believed to be the birthplace of the founding King of Bachwezi. The name “Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru” means “Breasts of Nyinamwiru,” named after the stalactites that form in the caves, resembling a woman’s breasts, though some say they look more like a cow’s udder.
Queen Elizabeth National Park - After your guided walk in nature at Amabere caves, embark on an exciting drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, situated in the shadows of Mt. Rwenzori, with several stops along the way for the equator experience and landscape viewing before reaching the park.
Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and embark on an afternoon game drive, expecting to see animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, bush pigs, and antelope families, among others.
After your afternoon game drive, check in to The Bush Lodge, Pumba Safari Lodge, or Tembo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Chimps Trekking at Kyambura or Kalinzu Forest Reserve, Afternoon Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel & Sunset Game Drive
Kyambura Game Reserve (Kyambura Gorge) - On this day, wake up early, have breakfast, and head to Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park or Kalinzu Forest Reserve for a Chimpanzees Tracking/Trekking experience. Follow an experienced guide into the forest to observe these fascinating creatures up close. Watching them interact, groom, play, and forage is an incredible experience. While your chances of encountering chimpanzees are high at 90% during your tracking/trekking excursion, it is never 100% guaranteed. These are wild animals with wills and minds of their own! The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates but on all the forest fauna and flora, ensuring your walk is both informative and enjoyable.
Kazinga Channel - Return for lunch, and later in the day, when the sun is high in the sky and the animals make their way to the river for a drink, head to Kazinga Channel for an exciting boat safari. Spot more hippos today than you can imagine. Herds of elephants and buffaloes will also wander down to the shoreline to bathe in the cooling waters. It will be a wonderful experience.
After the boat safari on Kazinga Channel, enjoy a sunset game drive before returning to your preferred accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Morning (Sunrise) Game Drive at Ishasha Sector to Search for Tree Climbing Lions & Transfer to Bwindi or Mgahinga
Queen Elizabeth National Park - On this day, wake up early, have breakfast, and go for a morning (sunrise) game drive at Ishasha sector, Queen Elizabeth National Park. Instead of scanning your eyes across vast savannah grasslands, look up, and you might find something lurking in the sycamore-fig trees.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After your game drive, drive to the “Switzerland of Africa” area known as the Kigezi Highlands, with its terraced hillsides and winding roads. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the mountainous countryside, offering many incredible photography opportunities. Notably, this “impenetrable forest” protects over 400 gorillas—approximately half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups that visitors can track.
Arrive in the late afternoon and check in to Gorilla Bluff Lodge, Ride 4 a Woman, or Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Mountain Gorillas Tracking/Trekking & Batwa/Pygmies Community Experience
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After breakfast, hike to the park headquarters, just meters from the lodge, for a briefing by UWA guides before transferring to the starting point for gorilla tracking. Enjoy gorilla tracking in Bwindi, which has the highest concentration of gorillas given its small size. The search for gorillas takes you through the thick, untamed rainforest, scrambling over mossy rocks and through deep undergrowth. Watching gorillas in their natural habitat is an experience that will last a lifetime. Experienced ranger guides will share a wealth of information about the history and lifestyle of these gorillas.
After gorilla tracking, visit the Batwa community, where they will share their traditions, including traditional dance, beer making, and fire setting, before checking in to Travellers Rest Hotel in Kisoro or Golden Monkeys Guest House for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bottled drinking water are included.
Golden Monkeys Tracking/Trekking & Canoe/Boat Ride on Lake Bunyonyi
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - Similar to gorilla trekking, embark on Golden Monkey tracking, starting with a pre-tracking briefing at the park headquarters. Hiking through the forests to sight Golden Monkeys is less strenuous than gorilla tracking, as Golden Monkeys live in lower areas, so you will not track for more than 3 hours. When you encounter a Golden Monkey family, you will have one hour to spend with them, taking photographs and observing their behavior. There is no minimum number of visitors for this activity, and the age limit is 12 years.
Lake Bunyonyi - In the afternoon, after lunch, enjoy a canoe ride on the scenic Lake Bunyonyi. This lake is the only one where you can ride a canoe to visit all 29 islands, including the floating island and the punishment island, where young girls who became pregnant before marriage were abandoned and left to die.
Check in to Itambira Island, Seeds of Hope Hotel, or Bunyonyi Overland Resort for dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Travel to Lake Mburo National Park for an Afternoon (Sunset) Game Drive
Lake Mburo National Park - After an early breakfast, leave Lake Bunyonyi and drive to Lake Mburo National Park via Kabale Town. Be welcomed into the park by various herds of zebra, buffalo, eland, and antelope as they graze in the savannah grass.
Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and embark on an afternoon game drive, where you will spot zebras, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, and waterbucks, among others. In terms of birds, you will see malachite kingfishers, African fish eagles, blue-headed weavers, Rufous long-tailed starlings, herons, pelicans, the rare shoebill, and cormorants.
After your afternoon game drive, check in to Hyena Hill Lodge or Eagles’ Nest Lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water are included.
Morning (Sunrise) Walking Safari or Guided Walk in Nature, Equator Experience & Departure
Lake Mburo National Park - On this day, enjoy your last sunrise in this beautiful part of Uganda with a guided walk in nature (walking safari with a guide), where you will spot zebras, giraffes, eland, topi, antelope, and cape buffaloes at close range. If time and conditions allow, take the trail to the top of the hills to see Lake Mburo and beyond. From this vantage point, you will have a great view of 9 of the twelve lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park.
Entebbe - After your walking safari (guided walk in nature), your guide will drive you across the beautiful scenery back to Kampala or Entebbe, or drop you off at Entebbe International Airport 3 hours before your departure time, with a stopover at the equator for an equator experience and photo moments.
Please ensure your flight departure is after 6 pm at the earliest. For flights departing before 6 pm, an extra night in Entebbe is required, which can be arranged at an additional cost.
