After a delightful lunch at a lakeside restaurant, continue on foot to Rubuguri (9km – 2/3 hours), where a vehicle will take you 10 km to the Lodge in Nkuringo (approximately 1 hour). Alternatively, you can be picked up by the vehicle at the lake and driven directly to the Lodge.
- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After breakfast, around 7:45 am, with packed lunch and drinking water, you will be transferred to the National Park Headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines for gorilla encounters. Then, proceed to the forest to begin the gorilla tracking adventure.
- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - This morning, after a hearty breakfast, enjoy birdwatching in Nombe Pocket Forest. Although it was once part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, it was separated as more land was needed for habitation and cultivation. It can be accessed on foot (approximately 1 hour to go and 2 hours to return) or by vehicle, with the visit lasting around 2 hours, depending on guest interest.
Lunch at the lodge is followed by a 2:00 pm departure to the Buniga Forest Trail Walk, an educational project by USAID and the local Batwa community. The Batwa tribe was displaced from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in 1991 when it became a UNESCO Heritage site for gorillas. They had lived as nomadic hunter-gatherers in harmony with the environment for millennia. Adapting to a new lifestyle in communities has been challenging. They now share their forest life and rich heritage to earn a living.
Continue the walk through the community to visit a traditional herbalist and a blacksmith.
- Entebbe - Enjoy an early breakfast and transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for your morning AeroLink flight to Entebbe, marking the end of services. Depending on your departure flight, either relax in a day room/overnight at Papyrus Guest House or wait at the airport for your departure flight.
