Do recommend - Jack, the skipper and host, was both very knowledgeable and funny. I’m in a history buff and my partner loves anything nature and/or wildlife related and we both enjoyed the cruise. Expect ospreys sea eagles, pelicans and the greeting of Simon the NZ fur seal. Bonus points for the local strawberries, local honey and homemade damper served onboard.

Kalgan Queen of the Waters - This was an exceptional trip in a boat.
We found a brochure at the Perth Camper and Caravan Show that sparked our interest so when we got to Albany we went to the Visitor Information Centre to book a tour. They were full of praise for this tour and their recommendation added to our interest.
Not only did we have 4 hrs on the water, we had close-up encounters with pelicans and witnessed sea eagles and other water birds up close.
We had an excellent historical look at our surroundings from the owner (Captain Jack) who is funny, knowledgeable, funny, historically informed, funny, environmentally aware and active and did I mention funny. He even writes poetry which he exposed us to during the trip. (personal and thought-provoking rhymes)
We had tea and coffee plus home-made damper, unlike any damper I have ever eaten. (Captain Jack’s Mum makes the damper and the recipe can be found on the website)
We were given fresh strawberries to sample, grown locally and very delicious. We were also given samples of honey and lip balm made from his own bees. (The honey and lip balm can be purchased on the boat but cash only)
Captain Jack takes a group photo and posts on his website.

Delightful morning on the water - A very engaging 4 hour trip on the water- beautiful views across Oyster Bay & up river, lots of local & historical snippets, pelicans & ospreys galore (a pair of eagles too) & a welcome cuppa & homemade damper following on from tasters of oysters, strawberries & honey. Our captain, Jack, knows his stuff & is full of mischief & fun!

Unmissable River Cruise in Albany, WA - You can’t choose the weather here in Albany, but you can certainly choose what to do. I definitely recommend the river cruise on the Kalgan Queen. 4hrs with Capt. Jack and his stories just isn’t enough in my opinion. I believe him when he states there are so many more to share. If you take your sense of humour with you this trip is unforgettable.
The stunning scenery around Emu Point, Oyster Harbour and the Kalgan River speaks for itself. The historic stories an added bonus of the lives before us. Mix in a wonderful collection of birdlife and their interactions ticks another box. We were very fortunate to spot a small pod of dolphins.
This was not a whale spotting cruise. Not the season and they don’t go into Oyster Harbour. Please be aware of this and appreciate the beauty in a river cruise.
Morning tea or coffee is provided whilst the boat is stopped. Mum’s warm damper is something deliciously special. Don’t miss out on an Albany Rock Oyster tasting - the best I’ve ever had. For something sweet local strawberries and honey from the family hives.
Whether local or visiting I truly believe you won’t be disappointed.
PS Yes there is a toilet on board
And don’t forget a jumper or jacket just in case.

A great River Cruise experience in Albany - This is a "must do" when visiting Albany. Captain Jack took us on a 4 hour cruise up the Kalgan River which included a delicious warm Damper and tea or coffee as well as a taste of the local Oysters & Strawberries. With a extremely informative commentary, a bit of humour and even some poetry it was a fantastic experience.

A must do while in Albany - Excellent trip. Beautiful scenery. Expectional Tour Guide making the trip funny, entertaining, and educational. Seeing birds of prey up close was amazing but the best bit of the trip was interaction with the Pelicans. Thank you Jack for an awesome day.

Beautiful morning - Captain Jack was great, lots of great stories and knowledge about the area. Jack shucked fresh oysters and offered them to everyone. The fresh garlic damper that Jack's mum made was delicious and he makes a great cup of tea. Especially great to see his Pelican friend Perch that greeted everyone that got on the boat. Nice morning out, probably not suited for young ones.
