Setting Sail on Lake Michigan

As a marine biologist, my work often takes me to the world’s most stunning aquatic environments, but there’s something uniquely captivating about the Great Lakes. When I heard about the Door County Kayaking experience, I knew I had to explore the scenic routes of Ellison Bay. The promise of luxury kayaks and a certified guide made it irresistible.

The day began at the Garrett Bay Road Boat Ramp, where the gentle lapping of Lake Michigan’s waves set a calming tone. Our guide, Justin, exuded a contagious enthusiasm for the Great Lakes, and his knowledge of the area’s geology and cultural history was impressive.
