El Alamein - At 6:00 am, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Cairo by an experienced tour guide and transported to the western side of Egypt in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Leaving Cairo behind, the journey leads to Alamein. Here, visitors will explore the WWII Museum and the War Memorial, which houses uniforms, weapons, flags, and other wartime artifacts. The displays include photographs and details of the battle sites. The tour also includes a visit to the El Alamein War Cemetery, where 7,367 soldiers from Britain, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, India, and Malaysia are laid to rest in individual graves, while 11,945 soldiers remain missing. Additionally, the German War Memorial and the Italian Memorial are part of the itinerary. A light lunch will be provided en route.
Lake Siwa - Upon arrival in Siwa, guests will witness the sunset at Fatnas Lake, a small island in Birket Siwa. It is a delightful spot to relax and enjoy the sunset, offering a stunning view of the lake with Gebel Bayda and Hamra as a backdrop to the west. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel in Siwa.
Siwa
Temple of the Oracle of Amun / Aghurmi - After breakfast at the hotel, guests will be picked up at 7:00 am to visit the Temple of Alexander the Great, also known as the Temple of the Oracle. It is believed that Alexander the Great sought the Siwan oracle’s confirmation of his divine lineage as the son of Zeus, the Greek god of gods.
Salt Lakes - The tour continues with a visit to the salt lakes. The buoyant salty water allows for effortless floating, even for non-swimmers. Caution is advised to avoid getting water in the eyes. Guests are encouraged to choose the crystal-clear lake, identifiable by its visible bottom. It is recommended to carry a bottle of water for rinsing off after swimming, as the lakes possess potent healing properties, stronger than regular seawater. A swim here promises to be a delightful experience!
Cleopatra’s Pool - Spring of Juba - The next stop is Cleopatra’s Bath, also known as the Spring of the Sun. Legend has it that Cleopatra herself bathed here. A lunch break will offer the chance to savor Siwan cuisine at a local restaurant. The adventure continues with a trip to the Great Sand Sea by 4x4 Jeep, where guests can enjoy sandboarding. This desert adventure includes discovering the best sand dunes for sandboarding in Egypt, located near the Siwa Oasis.
Siwa | Masra Matrouh | Cairo
Shali Fortress - After breakfast at the hotel or camp, guests will visit Shali Fort, built on a hill within a protective wall. The maze of mud-brick buildings that make up the fortress served the oasis inhabitants for nearly eight centuries. Residents lived in close quarters, sharing space with their animals, which were brought into the fortress each evening.
Mountain of the Dead - The tour proceeds to the Mountain of the Dead, a conical mountain just over a kilometer north of Shali. Tombs from the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods are carved into the mountain’s side. Four must-see tombs at Gebel Al Mawta include the beautifully adorned Si Amun Tomb.
Mersa Matruh - The journey back to Cairo includes a stop at Marsa Matrouh on Egypt’s North Coast for lunch.
