• Tanis - Guests will be collected from their hotel in Cairo or Giza for a journey approximately 160 km away from Cairo. Located in the northeast of the Delta, the city of Tanis was once the capital of Egypt during the 21st and 22nd dynasties. The drive will take you through the lush fields of the Delta. The site is rich with granite monuments that were relocated from (PR RAMSES), the city that served as the northern capital of Egypt during the reign of Ramses II. The ruins feature remnants of obelisks and statues of Ramses II. There are numerous ruins of the main temple in the city, dedicated to the god Amun RA, as well as the ruins of two subsidiary temples for his wife and son. Tanis holds both religious and historical significance. In the Old Testament, this area was known as the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel (brothers of the prophet Joseph) settled to escape famine, bringing their cattle and families until the time of the Exodus.
