A lovely way to spend an hour or two just chillin'... - Beautiful experience, luxe, calme et volupté. Especially after the chaos of Cairo, how could anybody not love a Luxor sunset ride on the Nile in a felucca...

The felucca sunset tour was absolutely wonderful! - We enjoyed a calm and beautiful ride on the Nile during sunset, and the view was truly breathtaking. The atmosphere on the felucca was peaceful and perfect for relaxing, especially while sipping tea and hibiscus. The service was excellent, and our guide Amir was incredibly professional and attentive. He took care of every detail to ensure our comfort throughout the trip. His friendly attitude and clear explanations made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable tour that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience a magical sunset on the Nile — especially with guide Amir.

Nice Sunset Felucca - It was a very nice sunset felucca. Got picked up at 16:00 and were back at our hotel around 17:30, so we caught the sundown and complete sunset around 17:00. There was enough wind so we did not need the motor boat, which made it more authentic. The process was very smooth and my family enjoyed it very much. Kind boys on the boat and overall a nice experience if you want to be on the nile in Luxor.

100% recommended tour. Excellent from start to finish. - This was probably the best organised tours we’ve been on. It wasn’t a huge distance or a magnificent temple but the driver, the guide and the crew of the boat that made it unforgettable. From the moment we were collected until we were dropped off everything was great. If you’re lucky to have the young crew on the boat don’t fear! At 16, 15 and 10 I was incredibly impressed. Our guide stayed with us the entire journey and was lovely and chatty. We enjoyed freshly prepared hibiscus tea and music with dancing following a splendid sunset.

Great view, great staff, but sad to contribute to animals in cages - The Nile River is truly breathtaking, and the staff on board were excellent. Our guide, Michael, was knowledgeable in Egyptology and shared many interesting insights throughout the trip. He’s a great teacher, and the boys who accompanied him were lovely and added a warm touch to the experience. However, one part of the tour was deeply disappointing. We were taken to Banana Island, expecting a nature-related stop, but instead found ourselves at a small zoo. The animals were kept in poor conditions — a crocodile confined to a tiny cage without water or space to move, baby crocodiles with their mouths taped shut, and other animals like ostriches, monkeys, and pigeons kept in chains or cages. This was clearly for tourist entertainment, and had we known this in advance, we would have opted out. Additionally, while we appreciated the effort to make the trip enjoyable, we felt uncomfortable being asked to leave a 5-star review before disembarking. Reviews should reflect honest experiences and help future travelers make informed decisions.

Waste of money - You know those pesky street vendors and pushy taxi drivers always trying to upsell and overcharge you? Now imagine being stuck with them on a felucca for 2 hours. That was basically our experience. After a long and exhausting day walking around the temples and avoiding being scammed left and right, we were desperately looking for some peace and quiet. We thought that a private felucca ride would be a solution, but we were wrong. The guide that was assigned to us was annoying. He stated several times that he knows how pushy Egyptians can be and he made a point of it that he wasn’t like that. Which turned out to be a complete lie. As we were trying to enjoy the sunset from the front of the felucca, he came to us multiple times, making small talk and having us do photoshoots with him. I don’t know if he was just oblivious or simply ignoring the fact that we were clearly not in the mood for this and had purposefully secluded ourselves to the front of the boat. I had to politely ask him to leave us alone and that we would come to him later if we had any questions. He left us alone for maybe 15 minutes. When we got back to the main area seating area of the boat, I had some questions about hieroglyphs I had seen that day. He explained some stuff that was interesting, even though he had the habit of never answering question directly and going off on all kinds of tangents. At this point, he grabbed the opportunity to talk about his previous clients, how he had a pretty difficult one who ended up giving him a 5-star rating. He then made me pull out my Google Translate to translate a 5-star review for him Arabic. By the time it was time to get back to land, it wasn’t over yet. Oh no! They had another surprise for us! The crew pulled out a drum and a tambourine and put up an awkward little show for us, singing and dancing. It was such a superficial attempt at fishing for tips and I’m so sick and tired of it. You’re being forced to witness this clown show and there is nothing you can do. It wasn’t announced so you can’t decline, you can’t walk away, you can’t even decline to participate because you’re being grabbed by your wrist and pulled into the dancing circle. You just have to grin and bear it. Afterwards you feel obligated to tip, especially considering it was two of us in a boat with four of them. And then the nerve of the guide to come to us afterwards to explain that we should tip, as if we don’t already know that after spending a week in Egypt. It’s ridiculous. The felucca ride itself was pretty mediocre. There was no wind, so we didn’t sail. We mostly stayed anchored in front of the starting point. At some point a motor boat came and pulled us a bit further up the river. It felt pretty pointless, since it was already dark and we didn’t even move that far, so the scenery was basically the same. All in all, if you want to watch the sunset over the Nile in peace, just go sit somewhere on the pier or find a coffee shop at the water and save yourself 40 dollars. Total waste of money.
