Tour to Giza Pyramids, Memphis, Sakkara & Dahshur Pyramids
Pyramids of Giza - At 8:00 am, visitors will explore the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos, followed by the Valley Temple where King Chephren’s body was mummified by priests. They will also have a close-up view of the Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren, standing by the funeral complex. The tour includes a camel ride around the pyramids, a visit to the Solar Boat Museum, and lunch at a local restaurant (full meal included, beverages not included).
Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Next, guests will visit Sakkara, located just 27 km southwest of Cairo. They will explore the Step Pyramid, built for King Zoser, which played a significant role in the evolution of pyramids, from the simple mastaba to its renowned shape.
Dahshur Lake - After visiting Sakkara, the tour continues to the Dahshur Pyramids. Situated in the desert on the West Bank of the Nile, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Cairo, Dahshur is a royal necropolis known for several pyramids. Two of these pyramids are among the oldest, largest, and best-preserved in Egypt, built between 2613-2589 BCE. The area is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history and architecture of ancient Egypt.
Memphis and Sakkara - Following the visit to Dahshur Pyramids, the tour proceeds to Memphis, the former capital of Egypt. Here, tourists can see the enormous statue of Ramses II and the impressive Alabaster Sphinx. Memphis has a history dating back to 3100 B.C. After the tour, visitors will be transferred back to their hotel. Breakfast and lunch are included in the tour.
Gizeh Plateau - The Giza Plateau is an elevated area located in Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. It is the site of the Fourth Dynasty Giza Necropolis, which includes the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Sphinx, numerous cemeteries, a workers’ village, and an industrial complex.
Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex, constructed during the Fourth Dynasty, includes a buried valley temple located beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. The site has not been fully excavated, but diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered. The valley temple was connected to a causeway leading to the Mortuary Temple of Khufu, although much of the causeway has been destroyed due to the construction of the nearby village. Only the basalt pavement remains of the mortuary temple, which was linked to the king’s pyramid. The king’s pyramid, completed in 2560 BC, is also associated with three smaller queen’s pyramids and three boat pits.
Khafre’s Pyramid - The complex of Khafre’s pyramid includes a valley temple, a temple dedicated to the Sphinx, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the pyramid of the king. Within the valley temple, various statues of Khafre were discovered, some of which were found by Mariette in a well located in the temple’s floor in 1860.
Great Sphinx - The Sphinx is believed to have been constructed during the reign of King Khafre and later expanded upon by subsequent rulers during the New Kingdom. In particular, Amenhotep II built a new temple dedicated to Hauron-Haremakhet, which was later enlarged by later pharaohs.
Step Pyramid of Djoser - Located in the Saqqara necropolis in Egypt, northwest of the city of Memphis, the Pyramid of Djoser (also known as Djeser and Zoser) is an important archaeological site. It is characterized by its unique Step Pyramid design.
