Departing around lunchtime, you’ll reach Inverness by late afternoon and transfer to your accommodation. Travelers are responsible for booking their own lodging in Inverness, unless they opt for GeoCultura’s assistance in securing hotel accommodations.

Inverness to Skye - Strongholds and Stunning Scenery

Isle of Skye - En route to Skye, we’ll visit a quintessential Scottish landmark – Eilean Donan Castle.

Situated at the meeting point of three lochs, the castle’s intriguing history predates its fame from BBC branding and James Bond films! You’ll have ample time to explore the battlements and castle halls and enjoy lunch before we continue our journey across the bridge to Skye.

We’ll travel through Skye, encountering breathtaking landscapes such as the Fairy Pools, and head to the northern Trotternish Peninsula. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Old Man of Storr, a renowned collection of rock pinnacles that is an iconic symbol of the island. If time permits, we’ll also explore additional sights in Skye’s north, including the equally spectacular Quiraing mountain landscapes and cliffs, shaped by ancient volcanic activity.

The Hidden Loch Coruisk

Isle of Skye - Embark on a boat trip from Elgol to the elusive Loch Coruisk, which is notoriously difficult to access by land, surrounded by dark mountains and rich in stories.

Here, you’ll learn about the area’s geological history and the Highland Clearances, a significant chapter in Scottish history. Choose between a short or longer walk along the shore of this hidden treasure.

Return to Edinburgh – The Scenic Route

Loch Coruisk - Check out of your B&B or hotel and take a taxi (included in the price) to the Kyle of Lochalsh, a journey of about an hour.

Then, board the legendary Kyle Line: a railway that traverses remote Highland terrain, passing lochs, glens, and wildlife-rich forests. This 2.5-hour ride to Inverness is consistently rated as one of Europe’s finest rail journeys.

From Inverness, continue by train to Edinburgh (approx. 3.75 hours), arriving in the early evening. You’ll be well-equipped with a GeoCultura picnic for the journey.
