Excellent tour - This was a highlight of our trip. Our guide Paul was funny and knowledgeable. Specially enjoyable was the traditional song he treated us to on the way back. Seeing the battlefield at Bannockburn brought the genius of Robert the Bruce to life. Seeing his grave at Dumfermline was very special. The visit to Roslyn chapel was a very different experience which we also enjoyed. This trip brought so much Scottish history to life and in a way we won’t forget.

Rory was great,... - Rory was great, informative guide. Lots of information, great sense of humor and story telling. Gave us plenty of time at each stop and a time to when we needed to meet the van. Robert the Bruce Dumfermline Abby was amazing. Lots of history. Stirling castle was great. Had a beautiful day. Lots to see and don’t forget the Unicorn Cafe. Rosslyn Chapel is a don’t miss for Da Vinci Code fans. There’s a presentation that’s quite informative if you time your arrival right. Great tour overall and not over 9 hours.

Authentic Scottish Weather with a Side of History. - Paul Henderson was a great tour guide! This was my first time in a guided tour and he made the entire trip very enjoyable. Lovely historical stories of each of the sites. He has a very enthusiastic way of storytelling that gets you very interested in what happens next. Touring the countryside with someone who obviously loves every bit of their country and knows all the back roads is a highlight and I 10/10 recommend!

A magical place - I’ve wanted to visit here for such a long time. The only day I could make it was a Sunday and, as you can imagine, it was very busy. For starters the area the chapel is situated in is quite built up. Not what I was expecting at all. So it took away some of the ambiance. The car park is quite big and I managed to get in. Entry was timed. I was pretty early but they let me in. Massive queue for the toilets, which are uni sex, so the guys in the queue were complaining. The chapel was mega busy, people were being shunted around. It was quite noisy too with tour groups and people talking. So it was hard to get a sense of atmosphere. However it is a magical place and there’s so much to see and everything has a message. I was glad I went. The cafe was busy too, no chairs I had to sit on a wall.

Storm Amy didn't stop us - All three stops were great. The castle ruins were closed at Dunfermline without notice due to staff shortage the day we went on our tour, so that was a bummer, but we really enjoyed the local volunteer at Dunfermline Abbey. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. Stirling Castle was amazing!! However, we were there the day that Storm Amy hit, so we weren't able to really enjoy the Castle grounds due to the wind and rain. Rosslyn Chapel is absolutely stunning! From the outer colors to the grandeur inside, it was amazing.

Last minute Letdown - We visited the Highland Experience Tours office to try and book day trips. We were told that the day trip with the Jacobite train was one where you watch the train going across the viaduct but you actually don’t go on it. We were sold a day trip to Rosalyn Chapel, Stirling Castle and Dunfermline Abbey. However, the cost of the trip doesn’t include entrance to the Abbey or the Castle. A separate email is sent telling you how to book tickets to the Castle. Sadly, the email was never received. We had to ask for it and then tried to hurriedly book it in the morning. We were told to be at the Highland Experience office by 08:45 to be picked up by the bus to begin the day. We were subsequently grouped together outside and told at 09:20 that there was a technical issue (no explanation of what this meant) which meant the tour wouldn’t run and no other coaches could be located. We were told by the operator that we could re-arrange for the next day when they don’t usually run a tour so that the tour could run and have a 50% refund or have a full refund instead. The operator then left us to “have a think about it.” It was clear that the preferable option for the operator was to re-arrange because when we went to the desk we were asked if we would like to go the next day! We were also told that any tickets bought for Stirling Castle would have to be bought back by the company from the Castle itself. We weren’t given any timescale for when this would be done. We were told the organisers were sorry but their apologies sounded hollow under the circumstances. As a result we had to find other activities and attractions to fill the day. We would never use or trust this company again and would look elsewhere to have a great time in Edinburgh.
