The guide will conduct a brief orientation at the meeting point, discussing the route, expectations, and tips for quietly observing wildlife. The journey starts along the boardwalk, following a seasonally adjusted path. The guide will lead you to the host plants and habitats bustling with nocturnal wildlife. Pause at each sighting for as long as needed. On-the-spot photography guidance is provided. Common sightings include frogs, huntsman spiders, net-casting spiders, garden orb-weavers, stick insects, bugs, and beetles. Depending on the season, you might also see striped possums, Papuan frogmouths, speckled flying foxes, geckos, snakes, and eels in the garden’s waterways. Having spent over 2,000 hours in these gardens, she knows the hiding spots of White-lipped Tree Frogs, the evening locations of Net-casting Spiders, and the preferred host plants for caterpillars. During this two-hour night walk, she shares her insights, from Striped Possums to Papuan Frogmouths.
The path varies with the seasons. Frogs are a constant presence throughout the year. Look for eyeshines before spotting the creatures themselves, and enjoy the opportunity to photograph a Papuan Frogmouth in stillness.
