- Arugam Bay - Located on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka’s southeast coast, Arugam Bay is a historic settlement within the ancient Batticaloa Territory. It is positioned 117 kilometers south of Batticaloa, 320 kilometers directly east of Colombo, and about 4 kilometers south of the market town of Pottuvil. The main community in the area, known locally as Ullae, is predominantly Muslim, but there is also a significant Sri Lankan Tamil and Sinhala population to the south of the village, along with a number of international expatriates, primarily from Europe and Australia. While fishing has traditionally been the mainstay of the local economy, tourism has seen rapid growth in recent years. The Tamil translation of Arugam Kudah is “Bay of Cynodon dactylon.” Surf tourism is the primary draw for visitors to Arugam Bay, thanks to several excellent breaks in the area, but tourists are also attracted by the local beaches, lagoons, historic temples, and the nearby Kumana National Park.

About the Park:
Kumana National Park is situated on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka. In 1938, the area, which was then part of the eastern section of Yala Wildlife Reserve, was recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s most important bird nesting and breeding grounds and was declared Kumana Sanctuary. In 2006, the sanctuary was separated from Yala National Park and was renamed ‘Kumana National Park.’

A wonderful trip to Kumana National Park - I went to the kumana national park to see the leopards. It was great. I saw a family of three leopards roaming freely. The company provided excellent service. A very good guide and a kind driver.

A great safari - We took an amazing safari with very friendly and professional crew- everything started with great contact and setup with Dhanushka, who was just lovely, and a pickup from Arugam Bay by Priyantha who drove us around the park in his tough jeep. We’ve seen it all- birds, water buffalos, elephants, even a leopard! We highly recommend this trip to anyone 👌🏻

Kumana national park safari - The best Kumana park for safari experience.. The jeep had come to pick up from the hotel and the journey there was very interesting. The driver is a friendly gentleman. His communication was excellent. He shared his knowledge about animals with us. The drinks he had brought made us feel refresh in the park.. Thank you TravCylon for organizing everything well.

The driver saw more animals - It was a beautiful experience to see the leopards in Sri Lanka.. Even though the weather was quite hot, the jeep was well exposed so it was very comfortable. We were able to have a good look around.. Apart from leopards, we were able to see deer, elephants, pigs and various birds. The driver did not miss the animals and did not forget to show us and tell us information about the animals.. It was a very happy tour.
