DUGA-1 is among the most renowned structures of the former USSR. Its official designation is “5H32”. The radar was designed to detect airborne threats, such as launched intercontinental ballistic missiles. The radar’s signal resembled a woodpecker’s tapping, earning it the nickname “the Russian Woodpecker”.

Going on a personal trip is arguably the most effective method to experience the Chernobyl exclusion zone and delve into its past and geography. Although a visit to the Chernobyl zone could be a rather intense experience due to the high radiation levels in certain areas, our team’s careful preparation can ensure your journey is as safe and comfortable as possible.
- The program of the excursion can be changed depending on the length of a daytime, weather conditions and directions of Chernobyl administration.
- There is a certain dress code on the territory of the Exclusion Zone. Clothing and footwear should be comfortable for walking and should cover the arms from shoulder to wrist, and legs should be completely covered. Tourists who are in a state of alcoholic or drug intoxication or who have alcoholic drinks with them are not allowed. Also, persons under the age of 18 are not allowed in the Zone.
