Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble - Just 15 minutes later, the next stop is Ananuri Castle, a popular tourist destination in Georgia. This fortress features a pair of churches and a 16th-century defensive tower. Situated on the shores of the Zhinvali Reservoir, the fortress is notable for its turquoise waters. It was once the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi. Visitors can enjoy excellent views of mountains, water, and the picturesque fortress while exploring the area.

Russian Georgian Friendship Monument - An hour later, the tour will reach the Gudauri resort, home to the Friendship Monument, also known as Gudauri Panorama or the Treaty of Georgyevsk Monument. This monument was constructed by the Soviet Union to commemorate 200 years since the Treaty of Georgievsk was signed in 1783.
This panorama is adorned with Soviet-style mosaics depicting Georgian and Russian heroes, farmers, fairy tales, and communist symbols. The monument is vibrant and colorful, with much of its beauty attributed to its location.
The Georgia-Russia Friendship Monument is a circular balcony extending over a 600-meter cliff, offering breathtaking views of the Caucasus Mountains. While not everyone may dare to step to the very edge, the memories created here are truly worthwhile!
- Gergeti Trinity Church - The final stop is Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), near Georgia’s northern border with Russia. Stepantsminda’s main attraction is Kazbegi Peak, also known as Mkinvartsveri, which has long captivated mountain enthusiasts. From the mountain’s highest point, 5,054 meters up, the view is truly unforgettable.
In Kazbegi, the tour will visit the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church, located beneath the Kazbegi glacier. Its secluded position atop a steep mountain, surrounded by the vastness of nature, has made it one of Georgia’s iconic symbols.
