On the way up, keep your eyes peeled for deer, marmot, fox, birds of prey— and if you’re lucky, a moose or bear! Once we’ve reached the top of the canyon, we’ll take some time to enjoy a spectacular view of the San Juan Mountains, Colorado’s most beloved Rockies!

Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides are Durango natives, intimately familiar with the canyon’s rich history and ecology. While other tour operators might rely solely on the scenery, our guides provide valuable insights into what makes this area so extraordinary. They are also skilled drivers who will navigate the rugged trail effortlessly.
Many prefer not to drive their own vehicles on this historic mining path, and our open-air Jeeps are specially modified for a smoother journey—though expect some bumps halfway through. It’s all part of the adventure!
