Outstanding Wildlife Tour - Just a fantastic day. Reece was our extraordinary guide. We observed many unique birds in the Peninsula tour. The boat tour was outstanding as we encountered multitudes of albatross birds both flying and fishing in the ocean. The last part of the excursion was visiting The Opera, a refuge and rehabilitation center for the yellow eyed penguin. Highly recommend!

Nice way to see lots of birds. - Great excursion with guide Will, he knows a lot tells with humor and has shown us many animals. Various birds; oyster catchers, a small owl, various shags, pukeko, herons and the blue penguins. Seals and sea lions. The one hour boat trip was also great with 2 guides, beautiful albatrosses and for dessert even hector dolphins. Binoculars and warm jackets are available.

Great tour of the Otago Peninsula - Very well conducted tour. A full day including stops at the Hooker Inlet and Allans Beach before the boat ride. Many birds as well as sea lions. The boat ride out past the headland was great; we saw three species of albatross. Finally, a visit to OPERA with a long walk on the grounds and a visit to the penguin rehabilitation facility. Our guide was very friendly and helpful, and made the experience very enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour.

See the best of animals on the Otago peninsula!!! - We had a great day on the peninsula and on the boat in Dunedin. We spent the afternoon with John who we very knowledgeable about the floral and fauna on the peninsula. He showed us sea lions, seals, local birds and penguins. He discussed the ecosystem and how the animals interacted with each other. It was a great afternoon. After the land tour we transitioned to the boat. The crew was very helpful and pointed out all the sites we needed to see. They really knew their stuff and could see things we didn't. They were quick to point out Albatross, Swimming Penguins, Seals etc. They gave us some background about the animals and often made adjustments so we could see better. The weather in Dunedin changes quickly so be prepared but you don't have to worry on the boat. They had long warm rain jackets that kept us warm and dry. Don't let the weather be a deterrent, they will take good care of you. I highly recommend Monarch Wildlife Cruises.

Worth it, highly recommend! - The whole trip is excellent, very-organized and worth it. We saw a lot animals including albatross, black swans, sea lions, yellow-eyed penguins, little blue penguins, various oystercatchers…. The driver ‘Will’ is a very nice and knowledgeable. He’s so kind to meet my personal needs , and even dropped us off at the near-by supermarket to grab some late dinner 15 minutes before it closed at 9 pm. A lot appreciation to ‘Will’.

Highly recommended - The rider accompanied the Tours very informatively and humorously. We didn't like the boat trip at all. There were too many guests on board. An absolute mass tourism! All the guests squeezed onto the respective side of the coast to take pictures, so that only the reckless “dredges” saw anything. Given this, the Tours was overpriced.
