Excellent mini tour of Bosnia - Communication with tour company was excellent before the tour. Was picked up at hotel at time arranged, Nice first stop after one hour in Croatia for morning coffee and break in a town called ston, famous for its hillside wall and salt flats. Stop at Kravice waterfalls was very good and chance to stretch legs Good explanation of border procedures..no issues either way, but new European requirement mean none EU visitors have to get out of car for retina and fingerprint scans. Stop at Medjugorje was not so good unless you are a catholic pilgrim. Just a commercial town with lots of tat souvenir shops. Mostar visit was good and good spot for lunch and to see the UNESCO bridge and old town. Small village of Capljina was interesting on way back to border. Guide Robert was excellent historian and sharing his own experiences of the war and the issues facing the Balkan countries. Good steady driver. This is a 12 hour round trip so lots of driving as well as good stop times at each location but overall a good tour.

Bosnia and MORE! - WOW..what a trip! Our driver/guide Mil (Milko?) was so enthusiastic to share his knowledge with us, but the other people on the tour were comatose. sat up front with him and enjoyed hearing him describe the history and culture of Bosnia. He even added a stop before we got to Mostar so we could climb some ruins for a great panoramic pictures (I was the only one that climbed). He also allowed just the right amount of time at each stop AND even gave recommendations for places to eat or snack. But the best part was that he gave us an extra stop on our way back. I saw the beautiful city of Ston on the way to Mostar and asked if we could stop on the way back for a quick picture from the road. He called in to ask permission and ended up driving INTO the city for us to explore for 20 minutes! He went WAY above and beyond to give us the best experience ever. HIGHLY recommend this day tour and try to get Milko as your driver/guide!

The tour is great…but tour guides can “make or break” a great day… - Despite our tour guide and driver (operated by Super Tours), I’d still recommend that anyone should do this tour if you have the time and you are lucky enough to be in the stunningly beautiful Dubrovnik. It’s a long day (ours was longer because our guide and driver were 30 minutes late at pick up) but is worth the investment of time. I wasn’t too sure initially about the stop at the church in Medjugorje but the place inspires an atmosphere of revertant and dignified calm. It is a Catholic pilgrimage site as believers report sightings of the Virgin Mary. We didn’t see the Madonna but had a nice time at the church. Don’t neglect the outdoor chapel and grounds - they are a highlight! What I would neglect is any recommendation from the tour guide to climb the hill behind the town to the crucifix on top. Due to a knee injury, we didn’t climb but others on the tour did, including our teenage son. This was on the “expert”recommendation of the guide that it would take about 45 minutes of a 90 minute stop. It didn’t! When 5 people from 3 different parties do not return on time to the allocated meeting point it is not mere tardiness - it is poor advice. Beyond the embarrassing waste of time for everyone else on the tour, my wife and I did start to get a bit panicked when our son did not materialise with the others on time. We spent a good 20 panicked minutes wondering what we would do with a missing teenage son with no money, passport or mobile reception in Bosnia. This was exacerbated by the awful driver smoking and cursing about wanting to leave the late comers behind. When people did return we continued on to Mostar. Simply, Mostar is stunning and worth the visit. Just go if you get the chance! Even the odd stream of consciousness ramblings of our tour guide could not detract from the sheer beauty of Mostar. His ability to jump from topic to topic with no apparent connection moved initially from the annoying to the comic! My personal favourite 5 minute cognitive “walk in the park” was a ramble that went from a discussion about the 1991 war, to the collapse of the Berlin Wall, to a comparison of Bosnia with Switzerland (??) to a discussion of some odd theory about East versus West to a comparison of Bosnia with Istanbul (??). Wow! All in about 5 minutes! This verbal nonsensical game of long jump continued all day in bursts. Others on the bus behind me repeatedly discussed being confused. Luckily, we were not confused, just amused and bemused! Despite this, I would still highly recommend that anyone who has the opportunity does the day tour. Mostar is worth the effort. Fingers crossed for a different guide and driver. The final indignity was the drop off. No, not at the Pile Gate where most people were picked up or anywhere near it. No, 1.2km away in the dark and pouring rain without any direction about where to actually go to get home. There was no time for a better drop off or instructions - our guide instead gave an impassioned hint about leaving a gratuity in a society that does not tip. Here’s a tip - do a better job!

It's worth it! - The two destinations are interesting, however I would like more time in Mostar. The guide provides interesting information and is friendly.

As you wish. - Very little time in both locations. Guide needs to improve. Could not be clear in the infs, left to desire in the interaction. P points to visit/know, not realized. Lacked better guidance of the guide. Constructive criticism p improve performance. To Enterprise, offer more time on site.

Bosnia was a beautiful... - Bosnia was a beautiful country and definitely worth the visit! Medugorje was a must in my book, I enjoyed the solemn, peaceful environment of the area. The ride there, however, was windy and our driver made it worse by speeding up, slamming the brakes and not keeping the van steady. He was a nice kid who told us a bunch of Bosnian history, but he needs to work on his driving skills as I was feeling very ill and wished I had taken Dramamine. Not the guide’s fault, but as there were not enough people to register for the tours, they combined two. My only issue with this was I felt really rushed at Medugorje and definitely needed more time. I only had 60 minutes and the climb up is not an easy one. Most people say it is a 30-45 minute climb up and then the same time down. I did both ways in about 15-20 each which gave me little time to enjoy the experience at the top because I feared it would take me longer to climb down, and I didn’t want to be late back to the van. If you go, make sure you get at least 90 minutes time if you plan on the climb. Mostar was a beautiful city, churches, mosque and we had a great meal. We stopped at a fortress on the way back. It was a long day, the drive is about 2 hours each way. I would recommend the trip but make sure you get enough time to explore.

Not worth the while - If you are in Croatia, stay in Croatia! Mostar does not have much to offer and you should only go to Medjugorje if you are looking for a spiritual experience, not a tour.

Might want to pass on this - This was a 12 hour day with little tour informative by the driver. he wasn't a professional tour guide. His accent was tough to understand but he was very nice and amicable to our desires.
