- Dubrovnik Walking Tours - The Large Onofrio’s Fountain, located next to the Hard Rock Cafe, serves as our meeting point. All tours convene here by the Red Umbrella, where the guide introduces themselves before embarking on the 1.5-hour Discover Dubrovnik tour.
- Onophrian Fountain - This starting point offers a wonderful opportunity to provide a brief overview of the city’s history, illustrating the rise of the small maritime trading city-state of Ragusa. We highlight its achievements, such as the innovative aqueduct system, of which the Large Onofrio’s Fountain is a part.
- St. Saviour Church - Adjacent to the fountain, we begin our walk down the main street, passing by the small votive Church of the Holy Savior. We discuss the significance of religion during that era and its influence on shaping the city as it is today.
- The Franciscan Church and Monastery - As we continue, we encounter the Franciscan Church and Monastery, a large complex belonging to the Order of the Friars Minor. It includes a monastery, a church, a library, and a pharmacy. The earliest monastery was constructed in the 13th century outside the walls. The library, built in the 17th century, houses over 20,000 books, including 1,200 valuable old manuscripts. The pharmacy, dating back to 1317, is the third oldest still-operating pharmacy in the world. We discuss various local traditions that have endured for centuries.
- Stradun - We proceed along the main street Placa or Stradun, the most popular promenade and gathering spot. It hosts all public feasts and processions and serves as the city’s main business street. The widest and most beautiful street divides the city into northern and southern halves. From this vantage point, we delve into the city’s layout in greater detail. You will learn about the fall of the esteemed Ragusa Republic, leading to the more recent history of Yugoslavia and the Homeland War in the 1990s, and the challenges the city faced during that time.
- Church of the Holy Annunciation - We leave the main street for the narrower inner streets of Old Town, heading towards the Port. We pause at the Orthodox Christian Church to discuss how other religious communities, such as the Orthodox Christian, Jewish, and Muslim, have influenced the city’s history.
- Monument of Poet Ivan Gundulic - We arrive at the Green Market in Gundulic Square, where we can observe and discuss local produce and fascinating stories and traditions.
- Rector’s Palace - Next, we visit one of the city’s most significant buildings, the Rector’s Palace, which served as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa from the 14th century until 1808. It also housed the Minor Council and the state administration, as well as an armory, powder magazine, watch house, and prison.
- Dubrovnik Cathedral - We then reach the Cathedral, where, according to legend, Richard the Lionheart was shipwrecked in a storm and cast ashore on Lokrum Island in front of Dubrovnik while returning from the Crusades in 1192.
- City Harbor - Dubrovnik’s ships were renowned throughout the Mediterranean, and galleons from the Republic were found in navies across Europe and beyond. These ships were constructed and loaded in the legendary Arsenal, another stop on the tour. Once at the Old Port, your guide will share stories of the famous Quarantine and the nearby fortresses of St. Luke and St. John.
- Orlando Column - Leaving the Port, we arrive at the eastern end of Placa (Stradun) street, under the City Bell Tower, in Luza Square. Here, several intriguing stories and monuments are covered, including the church dedicated to the patron St. Blaise, the legend of the knight Orlando and his column, Sponza Palace, Small Onofrio’s Fountain, and the high Bell Tower.

Excellent way to begin our visit - My family and I took the walking tour on our first day in Dubrovnik. Jelena was a fantastic guide, grounding us in the history of the city, helping us spot things we wouldn’t have seen otherwise, and giving us an excellent foundation for the rest of our trip. Absolutely recommend!

Excellent tour, delivered with humour and personality - A very informative tour with a very engaging guide, Jelena.
We expected a normal dry tour, full of facts etc. This was more personal, delivered in an engaging style with lots of humour, covering the ancient history to touch on the more recent and awful events in the city in the early 1990's.
Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent tour with Jelena. Would highly recommend! - We had an excellent time on our tour with Jelena! She gave great information about the history and culture of Dubrovnik and well as great context on its significance in the Yugoslav wars. She also provided great recommendations for additional things to do while in town. We would absolutely recommend this thoughtful, efficient, and well timed tour.

Fantastic passionate tour - We had a fantastic experience with Deša as our guide. She is incredibly talented and has a fascinating background, having studied both law and journalism. What really stood out was how much pride she takes in being a local and sharing the history, culture, and stories of her city.
The 2.5 hours passed in a breeze — honestly, she could have continued the whole day and we would still have been interested. She kept everything engaging and we were never bored for a single moment.
If you are looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with, we highly recommend Deša!

Fantastic tour of Old Town Dubrovnik - Kim was excellent and enthusiastic about showing us her town. Not only did she share the long history of Old Town but encouraged questions from the group. I especially appreciated her point of view living in a very tourist area.

Dubrovnik City Tour - We booked our tour 15 minutes before the tour started directly with the operator. Our guide, Jelena, spoke perfect English and had a very enthusiastic and engaging manner. As a native of Dubrovnik she spoke very knowledgeably about her home city. We thoroughly enjoyed the one and a half hours of the tour. We would recommend this tour to anyone especially if Jelena is your guide. It was good value.
