The driver will share fascinating tales of Ireland’s past when it was a kingdom ruled by numerous kings. The tour’s theme is ancient Ireland, focusing on stories of warfare, tribes, clans, kings, and religion. The drive to the first attraction will take about an hour.
- Hill of Tara - Upon arrival at The Hill of Tara, the tour guide will lead a visit to The Stone of Destiny. Known in Irish as Lia Fáil, it served as the coronation stone for The King of Tara. The Hill of Tara has been a significant site throughout history and is believed to be an entrance to the otherworld, where gods entered our realm.
- County Meath - Enjoy a scenic drive through picturesque agricultural farmland.
- Hill of Slane - The Hill of Slane is deeply connected to Christianity, as it is where St. Patrick lit the Easter paschal fire in defiance of the pagan king Laoghaire. Today, the ruins of an ancient church and tower stand quietly on The Hill of Slane. The views from the top are breathtaking and well worth the short walk.
- Bru na Boinne - Lunch will be at The Bru na Boinne Centre, offering a wide selection of hot and cold food, soups, and sandwiches. Meals and drinks are not included in the tour and will be at your own expense. For those who prefer a picnic, park benches are available near the visitor centre entrance.
- Bru na Boinne - The Bru na Boinne Visitor Centre provides intriguing information about the construction of the passage tomb. How was this remarkable tomb built? Who were the builders, and most importantly, why was it constructed? Information is presented on text panels with illustrations, and digital displays are featured throughout the exhibition. A short walk from the visitor centre across the River Boyne will begin the journey to the passage tomb.
- Newgrange - The Newgrange Passage Tomb, over 5000 years old, has an entrance aligned with the winter solstice. A resident tour guide will lead the way inside, explaining the tomb’s purpose. The guide will also darken the chamber and simulate the sun rising during the winter solstice to illuminate the chamber with light. There will be time to explore the tomb’s exterior and view the kerbstones adorned with engravings and decorations.
- Dublin - The return trip to Dublin City will be delightful, accompanied by Irish music. The driver/guide will provide recommendations on dining and places to enjoy good Irish music in a pub. The journey back takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the hotel location in Dublin City.
