- Saint Patrick’s Cathedral - Situated in the lively heart of Dublin, Ireland’s capital, St. Patrick’s Cathedral provides an enchanting exploration of history, spirituality, and Irish culture. As Ireland’s largest cathedral and a prominent Dublin landmark, visiting St. Patrick’s is more than mere sightseeing—it’s a deep dive into centuries of religious heritage, architectural splendor, and storytelling that leaves a memorable impact on every visitor. The architecture is a Gothic masterpiece, featuring intricate carvings, soaring arches, and elaborate woodwork. The stone walls are adorned with memorials, plaques, and tombs. A notable attraction within the cathedral is the tomb of Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels and a significant 18th-century satirist. Swift served as Dean of St. Patrick’s from 1713 to 1745. The cathedral is rich in historical and cultural treasures, including the tale of the Door of Reconciliation and much more.
- Dublin Castle - The exterior of Dublin Castle is more than just a castle—it’s a narrative of Ireland’s intricate and layered history. Constructed in the early 13th century on a former Viking settlement, it initially served as a defensive stronghold. Over the centuries, it evolved into the center of English, and later British, governance in Ireland for over 900 years.
The castle was the hub of British administration in Ireland until 1922, when it was transferred to the new Irish Free State following the Anglo-Irish Treaty. Today, it serves as a government complex, a venue for state functions, and a major tourist attraction.
- The Book of Kells & Old Library - The Book of Kells is one of Ireland’s most treasured cultural artifacts—a magnificent illuminated manuscript crafted by Celtic monks around 800 AD. Located in the Long Room of Trinity College Dublin, this masterpiece contains the four Gospels in Latin, lavishly adorned with intricate artwork, gold leaf, and vibrant colors. Each page is a marvel of craftsmanship, merging Christian iconography with traditional Irish motifs like spirals, animals, and knots. The Book of Kells was likely created on the island of Iona and later moved to Kells for protection. Today, visitors can view two open pages, rotated regularly, along with an intriguing exhibition on its creation. After viewing the book, don’t miss the stunning Long Room, lined with ancient books and marble busts—it’s one of the most photographed spots in Dublin. Whether you’re interested in history, art, or religion, the Book of Kells is a must-see experience that offers a glimpse into the essence of medieval Ireland.
- Trinity College Dublin - Founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s oldest university, located on a historic 47-acre campus in central Dublin. The campus features notable landmarks such as the Campanile bell tower and the Rubrics Building, the oldest surviving structure. The Old Library houses the Long Room, a 65-meter hall containing 200,000 of the library’s oldest books, and the Book of Kells, a 9th-century illuminated manuscript renowned for its intricate artwork. Visitors can explore the campus through student-led tours and enjoy various exhibitions and cultural events. Trinity College remains a vibrant center for education and research, offering a unique blend of historical significance and academic excellence.
- Molly Malone Statue - In the heart of Dublin, the Molly Malone statue stands as a tribute to the city’s rich folklore and musical heritage. Unveiled in 1988 during Dublin’s Millennium celebrations, this bronze sculpture by Jeanne Rynhart depicts Molly as a 17th-century fishmonger, dressed in period attire, pushing a cart laden with seafood. A visit to the Molly Malone statue offers a glimpse into Dublin’s cultural tapestry, connecting you to the city’s storied past and its enduring musical traditions.

Covers three highlights of Dublin - We had a very small group of 6 (we were 3 of the 6). The guide was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions from the group. For the book of Kells & library part of the tour, the guide gave us a preview of what was to come before we entered since they are not allowed to "guide" within the buildings. The Dublin castle tour is the exterior only, but the guide mentioned that there is a tour of the interior of the church/castle which we ended up doing on our own on another day. St Stephen's church was also interesting to see and being the last stop on our tour, one could stay longer, if desired.

Brilliant tour with a passionate local - Alan was brilliant. His passion for Irish history really enhanced our tour. Ireland has a long and sometimes brutal history and Alan conveyed how the Ireland of today was formed and established. We had plenty of time at each of the stops to see the Book of Kells and other exhibitions. Highly recommend this tour.

Beautiful with amazing acoustics - St Patricks is a beautiful cathedral with amazing acoustics. We were lucky enough to be there when the St Patricks college choir was rehearsing. The cathedral has an amazing history and I now know where the saying 'To chance your arm' comes from. Definitely worth a visit.

The perfect tour. - Nole was kind, friendly, personable and knowledgeable. We could tell he loved his job, which is a wonderful way to spend our time. I had a walker and Nole made sure I was taken care of. He set me up with the elevator (lift), and was very considerate of my walking troubles. The sites we saw were very interesting. This was the last thing we did in Ireland and a perfect way to end our stay.

This tour was fabulous!... - This tour was fabulous! It’s a longer tour but it went by quickly. Michael was gracious, knowledgeable and it felt like he adapted the tour to our interests and questions as we went along. He was great a highlighting parts of the Books of Kells Museum that I would have missed and did an amazing job of wrangling our small group around. We had bad weather going by Dublin Castle, but that didn’t take away from the tour. There is so much covered in the tour - religion, art, architecture - I recommend it to anyone! I came away grateful for what I learned and loving Dublin even more. Michael is a gem!

Good family experience - Our guide Nick was really great. He took his time with us and as it turned out we were the only people with him on the tour. So we really got good personalized discussions and a lot of history. Really appreciated how he adjusted his discussions to focus on my two daughters and provide some history on women in Ireland and some of the great accomplishments that have shaped the history. We had a little issue at the beginning of the tour with meeting location but that was quickly remedied and didn’t impact anything with the quality of the tour. Definitely would recommend him again or Noel that we had for one of the other tours. Both Irish natives and full of history.
