Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - The most notable landmark of Saqqara is the Step Pyramid, the tomb of the Third Dynasty ruler Djoser, built by Imhotep. It is considered the earliest major stone structure in Egypt. The pyramid’s form evolved from the large mastabas of the First and Second Dynasties, with six steps created by adding successive layers of masonry. Standing 60 meters high, the pyramid is built of locally quarried clay sandstone. Due to safety issues, entry into the pyramid is no longer allowed. The interior chambers and passages were used for the burial of the king’s close relatives and for storing grave goods.

Mit Rahina Museum - Memphis, the ancient capital of Aneb-Hetch, the first nome of Lower Egypt, is located near the town of Mit Rahina. It houses the largest statue made by man, the great statue of King Ramses II, and the alabaster sphinx of Queen Hatshepsut.
