Culloden Battlefield
• Located on Culloden Moor, near Inverness, this is the historic site of the Battle of Culloden (16 April 1746), the last major battle on British soil.
• It signified the conclusion of the Jacobite Rising of 1745, where Prince Charles Edward Stuart – “Bonnie Prince Charlie” – attempted to restore the Stuart dynasty to the throne.
• The Jacobite forces, primarily composed of Highland clansmen, confronted the government troops led by the Duke of Cumberland.
This includes a 45-minute travel time from the port and 30-45 minutes on site.
- Clava Cairns - • The Clava Cairns are a collection of Bronze Age burial cairns, approximately 4,000 years old, situated near Culloden Battlefield, just outside Inverness.
• The site features passage graves, ring cairns, standing stones, and kerb cairns, all arranged in a circular layout.
• Fans of the TV series Outlander will recognize Clava Cairns as the inspiration for the fictional Craigh na Dun, where Claire Randall travels back in time through the standing stones.
• Although Clava Cairns does not have a magical “split stone” like in the series, the circle of standing stones creates a similar atmosphere.

- Inverness - Arrive at Inverness city centre where entrance to Inverness Castle’s new viewing gallery is included. Enjoy panoramic views across the city. Visit Flora MacDonald’s statue outside the castle and explore the shops and cafes in Inverness. Consider trying a local beer at the Gellions, the oldest bar in Inverness, established in 1841.

- Loch Ness - Travel alongside Loch Ness for 15 miles, pausing for photos of Nessie (if you’re fortunate).

- Urquhart Castle - Explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle and the video centre. Watch a 6-minute historical video with subtitles in your language. Stroll down to the ruins or browse the shop or cafe.

- Robertson’s Farm Shop Beauly - Observe real Highland cows and alpacas at Robertson’s farm on the outskirts of Beauly.

Culloden Viaduct - Structure
• The viaduct is the longest masonry viaduct in Scotland, extending 1,800 feet (549 metres).
• Constructed from red sandstone, it features 29 elegant arches, each approximately 50 feet high.
• The viaduct’s sweeping curve adds a graceful touch to the landscape. - Beauly Priory - Depart from the village of Drumnadrochit, then return to the ship via wild land 1,000 feet up a mountain, descending into the village of Beauly, passing by the ancient Priory.

During the tour, you will visit Clava Cairns, famous from Outlander, the historic Culloden battlefield, Urquhart Castle, Inverness, Loch Ness, and see the renowned highland cows at Beauly.
Typically, this tour is conducted in an 8-seater minivan, but occasionally in a vehicle accommodating up to 33 passengers, which is still considered a small bus.

The tour will commence 30 minutes to 1.5 hours after the ship’s arrival.
Depending on the number of participants, the tour can be conducted in vehicles ranging from 8-seaters to 33-seaters.
