• The Great Laxey Wheel - Beginning at the Laxey Wheel, the journey reveals how Laxey transformed from a quiet fishing village into a thriving mining hub. Lady Isabela, the largest surviving water wheel globally, stands as a testament to keeping the mines dry. The tour then proceeds to the picturesque sandy bay, passing Laxey Woolen Mills before moving to the next destination.
• Maughold - The tour continues to Maughold, located in a breathtaking area of natural beauty. Here, visitors can explore a unique blend of Celtic and Viking heritage, viewing remarkable carved stone crosses and the remnants of the island’s first monastery from the 6th century.
• Ramsey - In Ramsey, the tour showcases a lively working harbor and a Victorian swing bridge, along with miles of sandy beaches and bays, now a protected marine nature reserve.
• Peel - Traveling westward, the tour reaches Peel, with its stunning backdrop of an ancient castle, fishing harbor, and sandy bay. Visitors can stroll through charming streets with tiny fishing cottages or around the castle, watching for Atlantic grey seals or resident Bottlenose dolphins, Moonlight and Starlight. There is also an opportunity to purchase local gifts at the House of Manannan and see replicas of a Viking ship, roundhouse, and longhouse.
• Tynwald Hill - Heading towards the island’s center, the tour visits Tynwald Hill. Established by Norse Viking settlers over a thousand years ago, it is the oldest continuous parliament in the world. The hill is a symbol of the Isle of Man’s independence as a self-governing crown dependency. The area is rich in history, including the Royal Chapel, a Giant’s grave, and the Ballaharra Neolithic stones.
• The Sound Cafe Isle of Man - At the southern tip of the island, The Sound offers views over one of the most treacherous waters stretching to the Calf of Man, now a nature reserve teeming with wildlife. Refreshments are available here.
• The National Folk Museum at Cregneash - Overlooking the Calf of Man, Cregneash was one of the last bastions of the Manx language. Visitors can wander among traditional thatched Manx cottages, which house a living folk museum, and see two beloved Manx animals: a tailless cat and Loaghtan Sheep.
• Castletown - The tour concludes in Castletown, the island’s ancient capital, surrounding what is considered the best-preserved medieval castle in Europe. Visitors can admire picturesque lanes with seaside fishing cottages and enjoy the sea air with views across to Langness, with time to explore the castle if desired.
