- Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - A renowned landmark in Beijing, it is the largest public square in the world. Serving as the symbolic heart of China, it is named after the Tiananmen (“Gate of Heavenly Peace”), located at its northern end, leading to the Forbidden City. The square spans approximately 440,000 square meters (about 109 acres), accommodating over 600,000 people. Our expert guide will introduce you to all the significant landmarks of Beijing, including the Monument to the People’s Heroes: a ten-story obelisk honoring revolutionary martyrs, the Great Hall of the People: the venue for the National People’s Congress (China’s legislature), and the National Museum of China: situated on the eastern side. Additionally, the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and the mausoleum displaying Mao Zedong’s embalmed body will be explored, with comprehensive information about the entire square shared.
- Forbidden City - Known today as the Palace Museum, the Forbidden City is the largest and most well-preserved ancient palace complex globally. For over five centuries, it served as the exclusive, fortified residence of 24 emperors and was considered the mystical “center of the universe.” The complex comprises 980 buildings across 180 acres. Our skilled storytelling guide will highlight its features in a 2-hour tour, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
- Temple of Heaven - While the Forbidden City was the Emperor’s earthly residence, the Temple of Heaven was where he connected with the divine. This masterpiece of Ming Dynasty architecture makes the “divine” feel tangible. It was the site of the most significant annual ritual in ancient China. Your guide will showcase the Temple of Heaven’s highlight—the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests: an iconic, triple-roofed circular tower with deep blue tiles symbolizing the sky. Constructed entirely of wood without nails or cement, it is supported by 28 massive pillars representing the seasons, months, and hours.
