An engaging & rich tour about the culture and traditions of the DR, complete with lots of chances to try authentic food - My husband and I LOVED our tour with our tour guide, Logan! He was so incredibly engaging and friendly and easy to listen to. He shared so much about the Dominican culture and history. Our two friends with us loved it too! We loved seeing how tobacco was made and trying cigars, chocolate, and crazy lemonade. The coffee that we got to help grind at the traditional Dominican house was some of the best we have ever tasted. Then we got to learn how to make Mofongo at the Coconut Cove outpost and we all LOVED it! After that, we got to relax on the beach and swim in the ocean for a bit. This was my favorite excursion for the entirety of our cruise. We booked this tour through Carnival. We just kept saying again and again how grateful we were to have booked this cruise so we could learn more about the culture and try so much amazing food. I think sometimes being on a cruise it’s easy to be out of touch with the actually community and culture that you benefit from as a tourist. We were so glad we could contribute to a real family and community this way, and we loved learning more about the culture and traditions. We would love to be back soon, we could not recommend this excursion enough!

Fun and memorable for the whole family! - My husband and I with our 2 kids (ages 8 and 11) and my in-laws took this tour and had an AMAZING time. We were on a Celebrity Cruise and purchased this excursion thru the cruise ship. It was one of the best excursions we've ever purchased thru a cruise. Angel was so much fun and very informative. He shared so much about the history and culture of the island while we drove out to the country. We stopped first to learn how cigars are made. At the same stop, we tasted coffee, hot chocolate, and the famous sangria-like drink Mamajuana. All were delicious! There are local vendors there selling items but there was no pressure to buy. Restrooms were available at the first stop as well. Then we got back in the van and went to Casa Typica where a sweet local woman, Blanca, opened her home and prepared hot coffee. Our group took turns grinding the coffee and then we all tasted some, with Blanca adding sugar cane for those who wanted it. It was delicious! We also had a chance to taste a homemade pineapple paleta which we all enjoyed! Yum! Restrooms were available at this stop. We then got back in the van and traveled to the beach where we made our on Mofongo and had a little time at the beach. The Mofongo was excellent! Bottled water was provided and restrooms were available. Overall, we had a really good time and will remember this tour for years to come. Thank you Angel for a memorable day!

Best Cultural Immersive Experience EVER! - Booked this excursion as a birthday gift to my mom. She was absolutely blown at this experience. We spent about 4-5 with our guide, Angel. He was absolutely, positively amazing from the very beginning. Our total group ended up being 4 (mom & I and another couple). Angel was so knowledgeable and personable! On the ride to and from each stop, he explained things to us about the rich history and culture. Used fun trivia to reinforce it, and we got to partake in interactive lessons. That includes learning how cigars are made & getting to try one, tasting different coffee AND getting to MAKE Dominican coffee ourselves OUTDOORS! We met Blanco, a local homeowner that is part of the tour. She helped us make the coffee, learn about family life, and taste a sweet treat. Then, we got to check out a local vendor on the way to the beautiful private beach. Once we arrived at Chukka, we got to use the beach chairs, umbrella and amenities for free. This is also where Angel (our amazing guide!) walked us through making Mofongo! It was sooo delicious. We tried mamajuana (the drink). They also had a bar, restaurant and store for purchases. 10/10 experience! We would do it all again!

Amazing Tour Guide Logan - Logan was the best tour guide we ever experienced. We travel and take many tours and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that Logan enhanced an already great experience. He interacted with guests and you came away thinking you made a new friend. Tour was informative and fun. Coffee was delicious and I smoked my first cigar. Mofongo experience was great.
