Al Zubara Fort - Al Zubarah is Qatar’s largest archaeological heritage site, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013. It is the best-preserved example of an 18th to 19th-century trading and pearl fishing town in the Gulf region. Unlike its contemporaries, it remains largely intact and has not been overtaken by modern urban development.
The site, located about 100 km northwest of Doha, extends 2.5 km from Al Zubarah Fort to the coast. Founded in the mid-18th century, the town became the country’s largest and most significant settlement. Its prosperity drew the attention of other Gulf powers, leading to several attacks and its destruction by fire in 1811. By the early 20th century, it was abandoned. Today, the site spans 60 hectares, featuring remains of houses, mosques, date presses, large fortified buildings, and a market. - Doha - Drop-off available at the hotel, specified location, or airport.
