- Sơn mài Đại Việt - Lacquer is actually the resin of a tree, mixed with colored pigments and solvents, and applied layer by layer to an object’s surface, creating a shiny and durable finish. Eggshell and mother of pearl may be added to the surface before the lacquer is applied, with the finished product sanded down to reveal the decoration beneath.
The high quality of resin from Vietnamese lacquer trees, especially those from Phu Tho, was a key factor in the rapid development of this art form during the feudal period. Decorated lacquer statues, panels, boxes, and trays (1428-1527) can still be seen at many temples and pagodas.
In later centuries, the use of lacquerware expanded to larger items such as wooden chairs and tables.
Since then, lacquerware has continued to evolve into a cornerstone of the Vietnamese handicraft industry, both domestically and internationally. Today’s most popular items include vases, jewel cases, desk sets, trays, and vertical blinds.
- Ginkgo - Over the past decade, Ginkgo has utilized locally produced and designed clothing to share Vietnam’s culture with the world. The lifestyle company takes pride in representing the country and its people, particularly through its brand signatures.
Ginkgo’s most distinctive brand signature is its culture-driven design aesthetic. Each design for individual products is inspired by a passion for Vietnam’s culture, from traditional values to depictions of daily life such as vibrant street scenes and iconic landmarks.
T-shirts, for instance, playfully depict the country’s famously intricate nests of power lines and cables, traffic chaos, and café culture. Prominent staples such as grains of rice and Buddha statues are also featured in homage to two of Vietnam’s foundational themes.
- 113-115 Đồng Khởi - Presenting a collection of exclusive 100% Kashmir silk rugs, grouped by common themes, each one unique. Some rugs are commissioned exclusively for Kashmir and took several years to weave.
The collection is elegant and exclusive, with creations that are distinctive and inimitable. Each of these fine silk rugs boasts a very high knot density, making them some of the finest offerings from Kashmir carpet weavers.
