The journey from Lijiang to the First Bend on the Yangtze River is approximately 60km. This area boasts stunning gorge landscapes and features the Iron Chain Bridge in Stone Drum town. Stone Drum village derives its name from a large, cylindrical marble tablet resembling a drum. The scenery is breathtaking as the road winds through the Lijiang valley, adorned with wheat fields and drying haystacks.
Following this, enjoy a delicious authentic Chinese lunch at a local restaurant.
- Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia) - Continue driving for another 40 km to reach Tiger Leaping Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge. Known for its 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, referred to as the Jinsha, there is a legend that gold can be found in the river. In the upper section of Tiger Leaping Gorge, you can walk approximately 2.6km to Tiger Leaping Rock. The walk along the Jinsha River and Marble trail offers breathtaking views.
- Black Dragon Pond Park - In the afternoon, visit Black Dragon Pond Park and the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture. Black Dragon Pond Park is a renowned pond in the picturesque Jade Spring Park (Yu Quan Gong Yuan), situated at the base of Elephant Hill, a short walk north of Lijiang’s Old Town in Yunnan province, China. Constructed in 1737 during the Qing dynasty, it provides a stunning view of the region’s tallest mountain, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, over its white marble bridge. At the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture, you can learn about Naxi pictograph characters and delve into the rich Naxi minority culture. Additionally, you have the option to attend the Naxi Orchestral and Show at Dongba Palace (at your own expense).
The tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Lijiang.
