Drive from Pokhara (823 m) to Banskot and Trek to Deurali (2,142 m): (4-5 Hrs.)
Dhampus - Begin with a half-hour drive to Banskot on the Pokhara-Baglung highway, then start the trek at Banskot (1100m). After an hour’s ascent, reach the charming village of Kalikasthan (1600m), offering stunning views of the mountains and nearby villages, followed by a descent to Hemjakot (1500m). Hemjakot is a picturesque village located just 19.5 km north of Pokhara. Continue on the trail to Dhampus (1170m), a quaint Gurung village, descending with breathtaking mountain vistas and experiencing the local rural culture.
After enjoying lunch at Dhampus, continue ascending to the delightful hamlet of Australian Camp at an altitude of 2100m. The trails from Australian Camp are pleasant, easy, and gradually ascend to Deurali (2142m) via Pothana. Deurali itself is a viewpoint offering a scenic view of Fewa Lake on the right and beautiful mountains on the left.
Trek from Deurali to Rest Camp (3,050 m): (5-6 Hrs.)
Machhapuchhare - Rise early to witness the stunning sunrise and mountain views. After breakfast, walk through the forest. The path between Deurali and Forest Camp (2550m) lacks tea houses. Along the way, enjoy the majestic views of Mt. Fishtail and Mardi Himal while passing through the grassland. As the trek ascends, the views of the lower valleys become more impressive. The trail also passes through forests filled with rhododendron flowers. Rare animals such as the Himalayan Thar, Spotted Deer, and Snow Leopard may be spotted. After a long journey through the forest, reach Forest Camp for lunch, then continue walking for another hour to Rest Camp for the night.
Trek from Rest Camp to High Camp (3,600 m): (5-6 Hrs.)
Mardi Himal - The trail from Rest Camp gently ascends for approximately 2 hours to Low Camp (2990m), then another hour to Badaldanda. Badaldanda is an excellent spot for enjoying beautiful mountain views. The trails from Badaldanda are relatively easy to climb, ensuring a smooth journey. Leaving Badaldanda, walk along the ridge of the Mardi Himal, with views of the stunning mountains, including Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhre. Climbing through the rhododendron forest for an hour and a half leads to Middle Camp. As the trek progresses, the tree line becomes sparse, covered with rhododendron bushes. Daphne, Nepal’s national bird, is often seen on the way to High Camp, adding excitement to the trek.
Hike to Mardi Base Camp (4,500 m) and Trek back to Badaldanda (3250 m): (6-7 Hrs.)
Mardi Himal - Start early for a 4-hour hike to Mardi Base Camp, situated at an altitude of 4500m, the highest point of this trek. Today’s distance is more challenging than previous days, with a higher altitude and a longer walk. The path becomes rocky and uneven at times. Upon reaching the top of the Base Camp, be amazed by the snow-capped mountains and natural vegetation. Enjoy the spectacular views of mountains such as Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Mardi. After exploring the base camp and creating lasting memories, retrace the path back to Badaldanda.
Trek from Badaldanda to Lumre via Kalimati (1,700 m): (5-6 Hrs.) and Drive to Pokhara (823 m)
Mardi Himal - Badaldanda serves as a viewpoint offering beautiful mountain and landscape views. After breakfast, retrace the route, gradually descending to Low Camp. From Low Camp, the trail diverts east through the forest, steeply descending to Siding. This trail is unique and different from the earlier one. Kalimati, at an altitude of 1700m, is a small, beautiful ridge offering views of mountains, farmlands, and the valley. Enjoy lunch here, then walk down to Lumre for an hour before driving an hour to Pokhara. Celebrate the successful completion of the journey with a farewell dinner and share experiences from the trek.
