The process was slow in the group setting. I waited to do in the first hour what I could have done in 5-10 minutes. Although the organization of leading/teaching the class was messy, I found other employees doing other projects to be helpful when I asked.

Our facilitator was great at explaining the process. The space was kind of tight, I wish we were able to work on two tables so that we weren't on top of one another. Also, this is not the biggest deal in the world, but I would have preferred not to share stick blenders because there was no consistency in how folks stored them after they used it. If a general announcement about placing them in a clean bowl or something was made, that would have made it better. People were just leaving them on the tarp, close to other used materials like spatulas and lye bowls. Lastly, it would have been helpful to have written steps on a board or wall for reference during the session. Overall this was a great time! Those were a few things that could have made it smoother for me, personally.

I liked how all of the work stations were set up from the start with most everything we would need. Great to walk out of class with up to 10 homemade soaps! The colors and scents available were all good. However, the class was way too large making it crowded and hard to move around the room. The instruction was weak at best. For a beginner class, the teacher needed to give an overview of equipment in front of each person and walk slowly through each of the steps of the soap making process. Having the steps on a sheet of paper on the wall with small print that nobody could see was unacceptable. I was also concerned about having kids in the class working with such potent materials like the lye (sp?) That stuff is seriously dangerous if not handled with care. With some improvements, the class could be outstanding.
