A great tasting experience!! - Rasyid was full of local knowledge on this tour. Very passionate and polite. Definitely make sure you are hungry for this tour. The food was all delicious and meals we had never tried before. The fresh market was an experience to walk through. A tour that is a little different and well worth it. Thank you Linda and Denise.

Gastronomically enlightening! - Ras was a fantastic tour guide! I went with another couple on the walking tour and Ras explained everything about the food we ate, the culture in Bali and how it differed from that of the rest of Indonesia, and really made us feel welcome! He showed us some of the less well-known restaurants off the beaten track and took us to the 24hr market to give us samples. It was actually more food than I could eat, but totally delicious with each bite!! Would highly recommend this tour to get to know some of the food and cultural aspects of Denpasar!

Walks, laughter, food and fun - Rasyid's food tour was a truely wonderful experience, we completed this tour as a family with our 9 yr old son who also really enjoyed this walking tour. We really enjoyed the additional heritage and cultural element to the tour that added deeper understanding to the food, culture dialects and beauty that is Bali! We laughed, we walked and most importantly we enjoyed wonderful food that was off the beaten path to many westerners. Thank you Rasyid for showcasing your passion and dedication to your beautiful culture!

More Than a Food Tour: A Deep Dive into Balinese Cuisine with Ras - The Bali Bites Food Tour with A Chef’s Tour was one of the highlights of my time in Bali. This wasn’t just about eating great food (though there was plenty of that) — it was about really understanding Balinese and Indonesian cuisine, the ingredients, and the culture behind the dishes. A Chef's Tour has the motto, "Eat, Eat, Repeat", but I feel it should be "Eat, Learn, Eat, Learn, Repeat" because the information shared is as satisfying as the food. Our guide, Ras, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the food and the stories behind it. We sampled 15 different tastes, from street snacks to traditional dishes, and every stop came with context — why this food matters, where it comes from, and how locals actually eat. One dish that really stuck with me was Ayam Betutu — a whole chicken coated and stuffed with bumbu, the Balinese spice blend. Ras explained how this is a special ceremonial dish in Bali, traditionally made for celebrations and important occasions. Hearing how the bumbu is built layer by layer, and how it differs from Thai or Indian chili pastes, completely changed how I think about Indonesian flavor profiles. The visit to the Bedung traditional market was another highlight. Seeing the fresh ingredients up close and learning how they’re used in everyday cooking gave the entire experience so much more depth. I walked away not only full, but genuinely smarter about Balinese food and food culture. If you’re curious about what people really eat here and want more than just a “touristy tasting,” this tour is absolutely worth your time and I highly recommend it.

Amazing Local Food Experience - Highly recommend this tour! Raysid is a wonderful, informative guide who will take you to some great local spots while talking about the history, religious ceremonies and general society in Bali and Indonesia. I tried many different dishes, all delicious. My favourite was probably the Satay Pork.

Much more than a food tour! Wonderful experience in Denpasar not to be missed. - This is a must do if staying in southern Bali. We’re based in Nusa Dua and we’re desperate to experience more authentic Bali away from the resorts. This tour was a perfect way to get an introduction to the hustle and bustle of Denpasar, and see how the Balinese live and eat! We tried some amazing foods, some we hadn’t seen anywhere during our travels in Indonesia. Thank you to Ras for such lovely and informative experience. We loved all the food we tried and enjoyed visiting Badung market. This is so much more than a food tour and packed full of history and culture as well. Thank you!
