Arrival at Malamala Beach Club

The moment I set foot on Malamala Island, I knew I was in for a treat. The short 25-minute vessel transfer from Port Denarau was a breeze, and as the island came into view, I was greeted by the sight of powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters that seemed to stretch endlessly. It was like stepping into a postcard, and I couldn’t wait to explore every inch of this paradise.

Upon arrival, I was eager to find the perfect spot to unwind. The online map had suggested a route, but I found myself being guided through the hub, past the pool, and onto the deck before reaching the adults-only infinity pool and bar known as “The Venue.” It was a serendipitous detour, as I was the first to arrive and had my pick of the best shady loungers. Ace and Charles, the friendly bartenders, welcomed me with open arms and made sure I had everything I needed for a day of relaxation.

Snorkeling Adventure

With the sun shining and the ocean calling, I couldn’t resist the urge to snorkel. The watersports guide had mentioned that the best snorkeling spots were to the right of the jetty, but I decided to start my adventure from “The Venue” and let the current guide me. It turned out to be a fantastic decision.

As I drifted along, I was mesmerized by the vibrant underwater world. The reef to the right of the jetty was teeming with life, and I was lucky enough to spot some of the biggest and most colorful fish I’ve ever seen. The experience was reminiscent of my time snorkeling with whales in Tonga, and I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the ocean.

The journey took me past kelpy areas and occasional colorful fish, each moment more thrilling than the last. By the time I reached the jetty, I was exhilarated and grateful for the workout the current had provided. It was, without a doubt, some of the best snorkeling I’ve ever done.
