Excellent Driving Companion - I definitely found this useful. Download the Death Valley app BEFORE you arrive and purchase the tour. Download which tour starts at your arrival gate, again before you have the bad cell service in the valley. When you turn on the tour, it provides a 2 minute blurb of interesting history and travelogue every few minutes, triggered automatically by your GPS location. You can stop whenever you want, and just restart as needed. You can go back later and relisten to segments or start a new section. I also recommend the free National Park Service app as a companion. It has good descriptions of hiking trails, scenic viewpoints, hours, road closure alerts.

Overall surprisingly good without mobile connection - There is unfortunately only very limited mobile availability there! Nevertheless, the app knew very well where you were...unfortunately the navigation did not work for me!!!

Excellent!! But remember to download in advance if going to remote areas. - VERY good app, east and informative without being too much information. But… we were with a large group in an area (Death Valley) with zero cell reception and some people hadn’t fully downloaded and explored the app. This held us up a bit entering the tour. Be sure to prepare it in advance if going “off the grid”.

Great to get a bit more info about the history and people - The app was great support for our day long explore of Death Valley. The information given was informative and put what we were seeing in context. As told we downloaded all of the routes before we got to Death Valley but did set up a specific route until we were at Furness creek visitors centre. The app kicked in with useful info as we drove around but there were the odd spurious ‘turn left’ when no turning available so use along side a real map too.

Must have self driving tour - Death Valley did not have any data access; hence the self drive tour, downloaded prior to arrival was key and made the trip enjoyable with insights of the area and stress free as it helped guided us through the park.

So so. - Downloaded app. It showed route and interest spots, but I got no vocal. So of limited use. Ended up turning it off as most points of interest had signs
