This lesser-known island is rich in wildlife, providing a serene wilderness escape away from the hustle and bustle of I-80. Visitors can observe a wild herd of 600 American Bison roaming freely. In addition to the Bison, keep an eye out for coyote, bobcat, antelope, porcupine, big-horn sheep, mule deer, and, depending on the season, up to 200,000 migratory birds. This island offers a pristine opportunity to connect with nature. After wildlife viewing, enjoy a hike to Buffalo Point on the Island to witness the stunning sunset and breathtaking scenery.
Bug Season (April-June)
We provide bug spray for mosquitoes and hats/bug nets for biting gnats. Midges are present but do not bite.
The hike is a 0.9-mile round trip. It includes a few steep sections on dirt paths but is well-traveled. This hike is considered moderately difficult, covering less than a mile.
The tour vehicle is a High Roof 12 Passenger Mercedes Sprinter Passenger Van, marked with Sunnyside Expeditions. It features large windows in the back for optimal wildlife viewing.

Phil is a wildlife... - Phil is a wildlife biologist and very knowledgeable about the history surrounding Antelope Island. You’re in for a treat if you get him as your guide.

Best half day trip out of SLC - My trip was incredible! I only had half a day while traveling for work. I am happy that I decided to visit great salt lake. My tour guide, Phil, is the best! I learned a lot from him. I can’t wait to return with my family on a longer trip.

Great tour! - We had a great time on the tour. The weather turned off bad for the day we originally scheduled, and the company was very accommodating to let us change dates. Garth our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and Wildlife. He was patient with us when we wanted to linger; we never felt rushed. We saw lots of bison, antelope, and deer, plus a couple of rabbits and coyotes. And the best part of the trip- the sunset was out of this world!

Beautiful experience! - Our guide Cramon was fabulous! He was very knowledgeable about the area and the animals. He gave us plenty of picture opportunities and was very accommodating to the group. We saw LOTS of wildlife at every turn and The sunset was gorgeous. Our guide let us know ahead of time to wear long clothes because of the mosquitoes, which was a lifesaver because man there were a lot of those and they are vicious. He also provided bug spray which was another lifesaver. Water and light snacks were also provided.

Wildlife tour - I’m sure this would’ve been a great tour, but we weren’t able to go on it as the van broke down so they had to cancel the tour.
