Dar es Salaam to Selous (Nyerere National Park)

Selous Game Reserve - Guests will be collected from their Dar es Salaam hotel or airport on the first day of their safari, and will journey to the renowned Nyerere National Park, previously known as the Selous Game Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is conveniently close to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival at the resort in the late afternoon, lunch will be served. Guests can choose between a banda or tented accommodation at the resort. In the late evening, embark on a boat safari on the Rufiji River. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Selous Mapumziko Lodge.

Full Day Game Drive at Selous (Nyerere) National Park

Selous Game Reserve - Enjoy an incredible game drive experience, venturing away from the crowded northern safari zone to explore the premier wildlife safari destination. Nyerere National Park (Selous) is the largest national park in Africa, even larger than Switzerland. The park’s rich wildlife and diverse bird species are truly impressive.
Visitors may encounter lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, hippos, impalas, hartebeests, pythons, and elands, as well as the world’s rarest wild dogs—a sight reserved for the very fortunate. Unlike Tanzania’s northern regions, where animals and birds are more accustomed to humans, the wildlife here is more skittish.

Selous (Nyerere) National Park to Morogoro Town

Selous Game Reserve - After breakfast, guests will embark on a bush walking safari, guided by a bushman who will share insights on animal tracks, medicinal trees, monkeys, the lifestyle of bush people, and survival techniques in the wild. Following the bush walk, the journey to Morogoro begins, offering views of the Uluguru Mountains and stunning landscapes. A city tour in Morogoro, a renowned agricultural hub in Tanzania, will be included. Overnight accommodation will be at a Morogoro hotel near the Uluguru Mountains.

Morogoro to Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park - After breakfast at the hotel, continue the safari to Mikumi National Park. The Mikumi and Selous Game Reserves together form a unique ecosystem. Upon arrival at Mikumi National Park, the first game drive will commence, continuing until later in the afternoon with a picnic lunch. Mikumi’s landscape is often likened to the Serengeti, featuring savannah terrain with tamarinds, baobabs, and acacias.
The infrastructure in Mikumi National Park is somewhat undeveloped, enhancing its charm and allowing the wilderness to remain pristine and natural. Overnight stay will be at Camp Bastian.

Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

Mikumi National Park - After breakfast, guests will visit a Maasai village. Later in the afternoon, there will be an opportunity to explore Mikumi National Park further to observe wildlife before returning to Dar es Salaam.
