The best-preserved temple annunciation in Egypt - Dear Memnon Team, the offer with Dendera Tour is a peak offer. In the early hours of the morning we were picked up by the tour guide and a driver. Both the round trip were very relaxing. Many thanks to the driver The Temple of Dendera is an ancient Egyptian temple complex in Dendera, 55 km north of Luxor in Upper Egypt. It is one of the most important temple sites in Egypt and was dedicated to the goddess Hathor. Today's temple complex is one of the best preserved Egyptian temples of the time. This tour has accompanied us as a family with 4 people the guide and graduate Egyptologist Sayed Hassan. . His explanations of the history of this temple complex were very interesting and extensively transmitted. We will remember this trip very well. Thank you.

One of the best providers for private excursions! - My wife and I went to Dendera and Abydos last year with the very competent Egyptologist Sayad. This year I went on a buggy tour in the desert with my five-year-old daughter with Shawky, who is really very child-friendly and gave my daughter a wonderful day (note: Buggies without seat belts, children must be reliable). We also organised the hotel transfer via Memnon this year – that worked perfectly too. Bottom line, a very reliable provider, even for special trips.

Dendera private half day tour - Very professional company, I highly recommend them. - Clear communication and quick to reply via WhatsApp - Our driver Asaad was a careful driver and very courteous. - Our guide Gerges was very friendly and knowledgeable. He never pressed us to buy any extras or go shopping somewhere, something we unfortunately experienced with other tour companies. We were able to ask many questions and didn't feel as if the tour was too rushed or too slow, it was perfect for us. - We requested a vegetarian meal and Gerges took us to a wonderful local place where we were served the best meal of our entire holiday. - Dendera temple itself is really gorgeous. Quite a few decorations still have colour, and the little chambers that you crawl into are still intact (meaning nobody tried to hack the decor of the wall) When we return to Egypt, we'll use Memnon again :)

An unforgettable birthday - all day at Hathor Temple in Dendera - Unforgettable - on time we were picked up by the driver and Sayed the Egyptologist, who also studied German. Already on the way to Dendera we learned a lot about the recent history of Egypt, which made the journey seem noticeably shorter. My daughter and I wanted to spend the day at Dendera Temple. This was also made possible without any problems. We will visit Abydos on our next stay in Egypt. Sayed impressed us with his unimaginable knowledge during our 6-hour stay. We were fascinated by his translations of hieroglyphics. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and can only warmly recommend Memnon Reisen to every visitor to Egypt.

Magnificent temples but the guide was not an egyptologist - We went on a Dendera/Abydos day tour with a small group, including hotel pickup. We are very grateful that Memnon Reisen was able to organise this trip at very short notice. Everything ran smoothly, we were transported safely, and visiting the temples of Dendera and Abydos was truly a dream come true. We would recommend this trip to travellers who are happy with getting some beautiful photos for Instagram out of it and that´s it. However, for those seeking a deeper understanding of the temples—especially the important astronomical and astrological significance of the Dendera Hathor Temple—and for anyone wanting detailed explanations and the opportunity to ask in-depth questions, we would recommend arranging a tour with a different company and enquiring carefully about the guide beforehand. Our guide was very kind, accompanied us throughout the journey, and did their best to share what they knew. However, they were not an Egyptologist, despite this being stated on the Memnon website. We ended up picking up bits and pieces of information from guides accompanying other groups, who appeared very knowledgeable about the hidden symbolism and mysteries of the temples. We were also disappointed that we did not get to visit the underground tunnel at Dendera with the world-famous “light bulb” reliefs. This area can be accessed for an additional fee, but the option was not mentioned by the guide neither during our visit or before the free time we were given at the temple. Unfortunately, we only realised we had missed it after leaving, when it was too late. This left us feeling that we should have been much more proactive about what we wanted to see, even though we had assumed such a key feature would be part of the visit, or at least mentioned as an extra option by the guide. We also recommend thinking in advance about how much free time you would like at each temple, in relation to how long is spent on lunch and breaks. Having only 15–20 minutes of free time can feel very rushed in the context of how long the day trip is. At the second temple, we requested 30 minutes, and since there were hardly any tourists in the afternoon, we were able to enjoy the site in peace and quiet—a real luxury compared to places like Giza or Luxor. Once again, we are thankful that a guide was found at such short notice and that we were able to take this trip at all. However, more detailed information and guidance would have helped bring these magnificent and sacred buildings to life and deepen our understanding of Ancient Egyptian culture. A hot lunch was organised in a private home in Abydos that also functions as an Airbnb, which was very pleasant and atmospheric of the village we were visiting. Finally, remember to bring SMALL BILLS in cash (local currency or USD/EUR) for ALL toilet breaks throughout the long day—including inside the temples, where toilets still require an extra fee even if your entrance ticket will be paid by the travel agency—as well as for drinks during lunch.
