The palace is centrally located between Dambulla and Habarane on a massive rocky plateau 370 meters above sea level. Sigiriya rock plateau, formed from the magma of an extinct volcano, rises 200 meters above the surrounding jungles. Visitors are amazed by the unique harmony between nature and human creativity. The fortress complex includes remnants of a ruined palace, surrounded by an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys, and fountains.
Duration of Visit
The entire visit to Sigiriya rock takes about 2 hours, including visits to the gardens and water canals. It takes approximately 40 minutes to climb to the top, 1 hour at the summit, and 20 minutes to descend.

Kandy View Point - Climb the hill by Kandy Lake to reach Kandy viewpoint for an unbeatable view of the city. As a popular tourist spot, it attracts many peddlers, though they often sell sub-par items. The area is also known for pickpocket activity, so keep an eye on your belongings. From the hill, enjoy stunning views over the lake and the city.

Kandy’s pride, the Temple of the Tooth – Sri Dalada Maligawa, is the city’s most sacred and vital attraction. Its significance is tied to the legacy of Lord Buddha’s tooth relic, encased in a golden chest. The Tooth Relic was brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD and housed in various temples before being placed in the Temple of the Tooth. Built in the 1600s, it underwent renovations and enhancements until the Kingdom of Kandy fell to the British in 1815.

Ramboda Waterfall - Entrance Fee: 50 LKR ($0.17)
Ramboda Ella Falls is a breathtaking waterfall, standing 358 feet high – the 11th highest in the country and 729th in the world. Located in the Pussellawa region near the Ramboda Bridge, it offers stunning views from various vantage points. A pathway leads to a lookout point with a spectacular view of the waterfall’s most impressive section. The walk can be challenging over rocks and steep slopes, but the view is worth the effort.
Seetha Amman Kovil - Dedicated to Sitadevi, the wife of Lord Rama, the Sita Amman Temple is nestled in the hills of Nuwara Eliya. Revered by Hindus, it is considered the only temple of its kind in the world. Located 5 kilometers from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy, this temple is significant due to its connection to the Ramayana epic, where Sitadevi was imprisoned by King Ravana.
Devotees visit the area where Sita bathed, sat, and prayed. Many believe this part of the Ramayana took place here, making it a popular tourist destination.

Nuwara Eliya to Ella (Overnight stay in Ella)
Nine Arches Bridge - Spanning 91 meters and 24 meters high, the architectural marvel of Nine Arches Bridge stretches along the Demodara loop. The stunning nine arches create a picturesque setting surrounded by dense jungle and tea plantations.
Also known as the Bridge in the Sky, standing below the bridge allows you to see the sky through the nine arches. Constructed in 1921 amidst the scenic Hill country, it stands as a testament to railway construction during the British colonial era. Due to a steel shortage during World War II, the bridge was built using only cement and stone bricks.
Little Adam’s Peak View Point - Named for its resemblance to the sacred mountain Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), Little Adam’s Peak is a popular hiking destination near Ella. The 1,141-meter peak offers a less demanding hike than Ella Rock, taking about 45 minutes through scenic tea plantations. The summit provides breathtaking 360-degree views of the misty mountains, best visited at dawn or dusk.
Located approximately 4 km from Ella Town, it is considered one of the easiest hikes in the area. Starting from Ella Town, the trailhead is on Passara Road, just past Flower Garden Resort.
Ella to Kithulgala I Mirissa (Overnight stay in Mirissa)

This river features 7 rapids, including 5 major and 4 minor rapids, with grades 2 and 3, ideal for white water rafting. It offers an exhilarating experience navigating through turbulent waters, providing an adrenaline rush.
It is not recommended for individuals with health issues like heart conditions or those afraid of fast-flowing water and heights. A coast guard-approved life jacket is provided for safety. Non-swimmers need not worry, as guides provide thorough instructions and are professionally trained to assist if needed.
The best time for white water rafting at Kitulgala is between May and December, as the rainy season can make the water extremely rough and unsafe.

Bentota I Colombo to Katunayake Airport Departure
Independence Square - Independence Square is one of the best places to relax in Colombo. Located in the affluent Cinnamon Gardens district, it serves as a monument, park, and walking area. It features a memorial hall, museum, vast green lawn, and the Arcade. Constructed in 1948 to commemorate independence from British rule, the Memorial Hall is an open-sided structure with beautifully carved cement columns and a tiled roof. Statues of seated lions surround the hall, used for ceremonial functions. The hall resembles the Magul Maduwa of the last Kandyan Kingdom. The Memorial Museum inside features stone busts of those who fought for independence.
Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre - The Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre is a performance center for large-scale theatrical productions. Conceptualized by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, it honors the country’s theatrical history by offering state patronage to performers. Designed by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, the project was supervised by local architects. Inspired by the Lotus Pond in Polonnaruwa, the theatre was constructed by China, funded by a grant from the Chinese Government. It covers approximately 14,000 square meters of floor area.

The Colombo Lotus Tower, standing 350 meters (1150 feet) tall, dominates Colombo’s skyline. Construction began in 2012, making it the ‘tallest self-supported structure in South Asia’ and the world’s 19th tallest tower, 24 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The tower serves communication, leisure, and observation purposes. Its design is inspired by the lotus flower, symbolizing purity in Sri Lankan culture. The construction was funded by the Chinese EXIM bank.
Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - Founded by the renowned scholar monk Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala in the late 19th century, Gangaramaya is one of Colombo’s oldest temples. It is not just a temple but a place of learning and a cultural center. Located near Beira Lake, the temple showcases Sri Lankan, Chinese, Thai, and Indian architectural influences. Gangaramaya is the most visited temple in Colombo and organizes the largest Vesak Festival annually. The Seema Malaka Meditation Center, run by the Gangaramaya Temple, was designed by renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa after the original structure sank underwater. Bawa created three floating platforms connected by pontoon walkways and anchored them to the shore with stone pillars.
Pettah - Pettah is one of Colombo’s oldest districts. This multi-ethnic area is bustling, crowded, and fascinating. Pettah market stretches from Olcott Mawatha to the main street and beyond, offering a wide range of goods. It’s common to see three-wheelers racing, vendors pushing carts, and people hurrying along the streets.
Vendors sell fruits, vegetables, meat, clothing, electronics, and jewelry. The Pettah Bazaar is the place to find interesting items at affordable prices. The market lies outside the remains of Colombo Fort and is essentially a stretch of shops selling various goods.
