This historic district in Dallas, Texas, covers a 67.5-acre area in northwest downtown, bordered by Commerce, I-35E, Lamar, and the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. It is south of Victory Park, west of the Arts, City Center, and Main Street districts, and north of the Government and Reunion districts. Part of the district is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as the Westend Historic District, and a smaller area is a Dallas Landmark District. The far western part belongs to the Dealey Plaza Historic District, a National Historic Landmark associated with the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Kennedy’s assassination in 1963; he was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital 30 minutes later. The Dealey Plaza Historic District was designated a National Historic Landmark on the 30th anniversary of the assassination to preserve the plaza, street rights-of-way, and buildings and structures visible from the assassination site, identified as witness locations or potential locations for the assassin.
