Fun and adventurous - Better than expected. Ensure you have 45 soles for entry. A couple of soles handy should you need to use the washroom and some soles 5-10 if you want some pics with the llamas. ATV’s were fun. Be aware there is a 45 minute mostly uphill hike to reach the top.

Excellent experience - The experience was great, the organization exceeded my expectations. The guide and the driver were both punctual, and attentive to our needs. The places we stopped for breakfast and diner were clean, tasty food, and also one could buy extra gloves/scarfs/sweaters if needed. Up on the mountain, there were fresh coca tea and alpaca meat to buy, although the altitude sickness impedes one to eat too much. Great views and all in one great experience!

Great ATV tour , shame about the bus driver - The tour was great , the ATV's were in great condition and evan though the weather was not the nicest we had a good time. The only bad part was the drive there and back. The driver drove like a complete idiot, passing cars on blind corners, the guide was showing the driver videos on his phone while driving and there was not a single car we didn't overtake. Food stop was limited on food and no drinks, They were extra. The ATV's were fun, in very good condition and everyone was looked after. The ride through the red valley was amazing. The hike was not that far but a little hard due to altitude but that was expected. This tour would have been 5 star if it was not for the dangerous driving that scared all on board and the guide being part of it.

Was this even a tour? - Company provided us with the details pretty late at night. Samuel pick us up even earlier than what’s written on the tour description. He didn’t even introduce himself so we thought he was just the driver and soon we will pick up our tour guide but that never happened. The van was outdated and uncomfortable. Samuel was very rude all the time. His instructions were not clear and when we request clarification he gave us an attitude and say we need to pay attention like if we were little kids. We arrived at the spot where we picked up the ATVs, it was pure chaos. Multiple companies at the same time and he was giving us hand signals and not a clear guide or plan of action. As we were closer to the points of interest he didn’t mention a word or do what a tour guide is supposed to do. Each group was by their own. Oxygen was never provided. So don’t rely on that. They DO NOT provide oxygen as advertised. At 16,000+ you will need it. Believe me. Once we were done we drove back to Cusco, none of us was dropped off at our hotels as advertised. So after a long day you still have to walk even more. The entrance for the rainbow and red valley was 45 soles per person, make sure you bring the exact change otherwise Samuel will self tip and won’t return the difference. After he drop us far from our hotel he didn’t even say goodbye. Samuel was rude and unprofessional. The views are amazing but I’m sure for the same price you can have a quality tour, not an unprofessional person driving you around.

A Stressful and Disappointing Experience - I would not recommend booking the “ATVs in Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley” excursion with "Chaska Andina Travel", especially if you are expecting the experience advertised in the listing. Unfortunately, almost every major detail in the description was misleading or completely inaccurate. First, the excursion advertises itself as a “small group” with a maximum of 12 people. That was absolutely not true. The group I was with had nearly 20 people packed into a van that was already uncomfortable and not temperature controlled. One of the reasons many travelers intentionally book small group tours is for a more intimate and organized experience, especially for solo travelers. Instead, the group barely interacted, and there was no effort from the guide to create a welcoming or engaging atmosphere. To make matters worse the van arrived an hour late for pickup. These tours already begin extremely early around 4 AM, so being an hour late is completely unacceptable. A few minutes is understandable, but an entire hour was frustrating and inconsiderate. The transportation itself was poorly managed. During the commute, we kept making random stops with little to no communication about what was happening. There was one understandable bathroom stop, but the others seemed unnecessary and only delayed an already long drive. As for the guide, Alex initially seemed friendly, but throughout the tour he was barely present or helpful. Important instructions were not given while we were seated at breakfast/lunch and able to hear him. Instead, he waited until we were back inside the loud van where most people could barely understand anything he was saying. During the hike, there was almost no organization. He allowed the group to completely separate without setting any time expectations or keeping people together. I watched multiple other tour groups remain organized and supported by their guides while ours felt chaotic and abandoned. At high altitude, communication and guidance are extremely important, especially for travelers who may need assistance. The listing also states that oxygen is included, which is something many travelers rely on due to the altitude. However, oxygen was never provided. Considering how difficult breathing can become at Rainbow Mountain, this was a major issue. When people needed help or guidance, Alex was nowhere to be found. Another major issue was the language barrier. Most of the workers and merchants in the mountains only spoke Spanish, and since there is little to no internet service in the area, translation apps were useless. This is exactly where having an attentive guide becomes important. People had basic questions about prices for drinks, food, horses, and even bathroom access, but Alex was rarely around or available when needed. Instead of helping bridge the communication gap for travelers, he was absent for most of the experience, which made an already physically demanding excursion even more frustrating and stressful. The food for breakfast and lunch was average at best, and there were no drink options besides hot water. Another issue was the entrance fee. The tour description states the entrance fee is 15 soles, yet most of us were charged 30 soles instead. Meanwhile, two passengers argued that the fee was already included in their booking and ended up not paying anything at all, which made the situation even more questionable and inconsistent. Lastly, the booking clearly advertises hotel pickup and drop-off. While I was picked up from my hotel, once the tour ended, everyone was dropped off at Plaza de Armas. When asking the guide why we were not being returned to our hotels as promised in the description, he responded by saying, “We don’t do that, you come here,” referring to Plaza de Armas. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing and overwhelming. I booked this excursion as part of my birthday trip and honestly struggled to enjoy it because of how poorly organized and misleading the entire experience was. Save yourself the stress and book with a more reputable company that actually delivers what they advertise and cares about the experience of their guests.
