Begin with an early van ride from Cusco through Malaga Pass (a 5–6 hour drive) to reach Lucmabamba (approximately 2,085–2,140 meters).
After lunch, embark on a 4–6 hour hike along the ancient Inca trail: a moderately steep climb through tropical jungle, coffee plantations, waterfalls, exotic birds, and orchids leading to the Llactapata ruins. Discover pristine Inca sites (terraces and structures with religious significance) and enjoy breathtaking southeast views of Machu Picchu — a truly magical and unique experience.
Descend for 3 hours to Hidroeléctrica, then walk along the river (2 hours) to the town of Aguas Calientes. Overnight stay in a hotel.
