By approximately 8:40 am, the tour will reach “Awana Cancha,” an alpaca and llama farm in the Andes. This is a wonderful place to learn about these unique animals, their roles, uses, and current significance to the local community.
- Pisac - At around 9:40 am, the tour will arrive at the Pisac Archaeological site, an ancient Inca city with the largest known cemetery to date. The tour guide will explain the importance and function of this historic city.
- Urubamba - At approximately 12:00 pm, you will reach Urubamba, the capital of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In this town, with a population of around 25,000, you will have lunch. There are many dining options available, and the tour guide will assist in selecting the best choice.
- Ollantaytambo - At 1:30 pm, the tour will arrive at Ollantaytambo, the most significant archaeological site in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here, you will find a living Inca town with traditional streets and locals in typical attire. The ancient Ollantaytambo fortress, where the Incas fought their last battle against the Spaniards, is also located here.
- Chinchero - The tour will reach Chinchero at approximately 3:50 pm. This small town features an ancient Inca palace with stunning terraces. Above the Inca palaces is a colonial temple, a fine example of syncretism in South America. In this town, you can also learn more about textiles, as the local women will provide a demonstration.
Finally, the tour will return to Cusco city around 6:00 pm.
