Cusco – KM 82 – Llactapata – Ayapata (14km, 6hrs)
Inca Trail - The ALIPERUTREKS team will collect travelers from their hotel in Cusco at 4:30 AM and transport them to Ollantaytambo for breakfast. Following breakfast, the journey continues for another hour to the trailhead at Piscacucho or Km 82, where the trek begins. Remember to bring your original passport. The hike starts with a 3-hour walk, focusing on the Inca sites of Canabamba and Llactapata, two archaeological sites with distinct purposes. Afterward, a 30-minute walk leads to the lunch spot. The team of porters and trekking chefs will have the camp set up for a hot lunch. All meals are prepared on-site, and there will be opportunities to refill water bottles. After a rest, the hike continues for about 3 hours to reach Ayapata, the campsite for the night.
Ayapata – Warmiwañuska – Chaquicocha (16 km, 10 hrs.)
Inca Trail - Another exciting day begins with breakfast, followed by a four-hour ascent to the highest point of the Inca Trail at 4215 meters, offering breathtaking views of the mountain ranges. The trail then descends for an hour to the next valley, arriving at Pacaymayo for lunch, with opportunities to refill water bottles. The journey continues with a 2-hour and 45-minute ascent to the Inca site Runcuraccay, where travelers can enjoy the archaeological site and views of two beautiful waterfalls. A one-hour descent leads to another Inca site, Sayacmarca, for further exploration. A 25-minute hike then takes travelers to the campsite at Chaquicocha, located at 3700 meters. The day concludes with dinner and, if time allows, stargazing.
Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñaywayna (10km, 6hrs)
Inca Trail - This day is the most beautiful and relaxing, featuring a 6-hour hike through various ecological zones. The day starts early at 7:00 AM, with a 2-hour walk through ups and downs, entering the edge of the jungle known as the cloud forest. On clear days, Salkantay and the Vilcabamba mountain range are visible. Upon reaching the Inca site of Phuyupatamarca, travelers will enjoy excellent views of the Urubamba River and their first glimpse of Machupicchu Mountain. After exploration, a 3-hour descent leads to the campsite, passing another Inca site (Intipata). Arrival at camp is around 1:00 PM. After eating and resting, the journey continues to the largest site on the Inca Trail, the beautiful Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young) site. This day is the easiest on the Inca Trail, designed to conserve energy for the final day at Machu Picchu.
Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco (6km, 2 hrs)
Inca Trail - The day begins with an early breakfast, followed by a 2-hour walk to Inti Punco (Sun Gate), offering spectacular views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains.
