Santa Maria - The adventure begins at approximately 6 a.m. with the collection and transportation of participants towards the Abra Málaga pass, situated at 4,300 meters above sea level. Here, the thrilling bicycle descent commences. After about 3 hours of cycling through a scenic route adorned with stunning views and fruit fields, the journey concludes in the town of Santa María, where a delicious lunch awaits at a local eatery.
In the afternoon, those who have pre-booked can partake in rafting for an additional $30 USD. This exhilarating activity is available only during Cusco’s dry season, from April to November.
In the evening, accommodations are provided in a cozy hostel featuring hot water, Internet access, and a picturesque view amidst the jungle.
Santa María – Santa Teresa (hike and thermal baths)
Banos Termales de Cocalmayo - At around 6:00 a.m., following a refreshing breakfast, the hike begins along a captivating section of the Inca Trail. This segment is a must-see, offering a chance to walk on a well-preserved part of the ancient Inca trail still in use by locals.
During this trek, participants will encounter waterfalls, streams, and plantations of local fruits and tubers. The diverse flora and fauna, including exotic bird species and a variety of orchids and fruit trees like bananas, oranges, avocados, and coffee, will be on display. In the afternoon, the journey leads to the thermal baths of Cocalmayo, where a few hours can be spent enjoying the renowned thermo-medicinal waters. After this soothing experience, the group will settle into accommodations in Santa Teresa for the second night.
Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes (hike)
Aguas Calientes - The guide will narrate the path taken by the explorers who uncovered Machu Picchu. Those who have pre-booked can enjoy the zip line for an additional $30 USD, one of the tour’s most exciting activities. The hike continues for approximately 3 more hours, offering some of the tour’s most breathtaking views and landscapes, including magnificent waterfalls from glaciers, coca plantations, and historic bridges. This path follows the train route to Aguas Calientes, also known as ‘Machu Picchu Pueblo,’ where accommodations are arranged in a comfortable local lodging at the base of the archaeological site.
That evening, the group will gather at a tourist restaurant to savor a delightful dinner and plan the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu with the guide.
Machu Picchu-Cusco
Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu - At around 4 a.m., preparations begin for the ascent to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. The guide will not accompany the group during this section to coordinate prior details and will meet the group at the entrance of Machu Picchu, preserving the guide’s physical well-being.
The guide will provide a two-hour historical tour. Those who reserved in advance and secured a ticket for one of the additional mountains, either Huaynapicchu or Montaña, for an extra $30 USD, will enjoy a breathtaking aerial view of the Machu Picchu archaeological site. This tour may take around 3 hours, but the unforgettable scenery makes it worthwhile.
In the afternoon, the group will descend to Aguas Calientes to return by train, as per the chosen package, to Ollantaytambo. From there, they will board a bus back to Cusco, marking the end of the tour.
