DAY 1: AIRPORT PICK UP- CITY TOUR

Cusco -

• A Machu Picchu Journey representative will meet you at the airport and arrange your hotel transfer.
• Enjoy a free morning to relax and adjust to the altitude.
• At 2:00 PM, we will collect you from your hotel for the city tour. The first stop is Koricancha (Temple of the Sun) for a 45-minute guided exploration, followed by a transfer to our next destination.
• A 30-minute drive takes us to Sacsayhuaman (from Quechua saqsay, meaning ‘place to be satiated’, and waman, meaning ‘falcon’, thus ‘Place where the hawk is satiated’), where we will enjoy a one-hour guided visit.
• Next, we will discover Qenqo, a ceremonial site within a rock formation, imbued with a strong sense of mysticism.
• A 15-minute drive leads us to PucaPucara (the ‘red fort’), a site of military significance.
• The final visit of the day is to Tambomachay, also known as the ‘Bath of the Inca’, a site dedicated to water worship. We will conclude our tour and return to Cusco around 7:00 pm.
