A Serendipitous Adventure in Curubandé

As a professional surfer, my life is a constant pursuit of the perfect wave, but every now and then, I find myself drawn to the land, seeking new adventures that take me away from the ocean’s embrace. On a recent trip to Costa Rica, I found myself with an unexpected free day in Liberia before heading to Lake Arenal. It was then that I stumbled upon the La Leona Waterfall Hike and decided to trade my surfboard for hiking boots.

The day began with a warm welcome from our guides, who picked me up from my hotel. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and I knew I was in for a treat. We joined a small group of fellow adventurers, and together, we embarked on a thrilling 4x4 ride to the trailhead. The entire experience was impeccably organized, from the dry bags provided for our valuables to the delicious lunch that awaited us after the hike. I regretted not bringing my phone to capture the stunning vistas, but the memories of the day are etched in my mind. The camaraderie among our group, the professionalism of our guides, and the sheer beauty of the landscape made this a day to remember.

As we made our way back to Liberia, I couldn’t help but reflect on the unexpected joy of this adventure. It was a reminder that sometimes, the best experiences come when you least expect them.
