Additional Information

The East 4x4 tour is enormously diverse and can cater to every interest!

We will first make a halt at Pico Do Areiro, the island’s three highest peak, elevating to 1811m above ground level.

The view from here is typically awe-inspiring and we usually take a considerable amount of time admiring it.

Following this, we head to the island’s North side, delving into rustic areas like Ribeiro Frio and Faial offering glimpses of Laurissilva forest.

The next stop on our itinerary is Santana.

This is the place where you can spot the renowned ‘A-Frame’ houses, you may have seen in online images or travel literature.

We will encounter numerous farming terraces, interact with local inhabitants and enjoy lunch at perhaps the most scenic restaurant on the island,

Quinta do Furao Hotel.
(Note: The cost for lunch is not included in the tour fare, yet highly suggested)

Post lunch, depending on the time available and group preferences, we generally arrange for a tasting session of wine or rum.

This tour serves as the perfect ‘initial tour’ for anyone who appreciates panoramic views, local culture, delicious food and an enjoyable time!

Best first tour - The Tour was really amazing. With Nuno we had a very experienced and funny guy for the tour. I'm really happy that I did this. Was more than worth the money :) Just added a few photos that you can make your own experience.

Excellent Guide and Service - Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and our guide Nuno was a very good driver and also very knowledgeable. We were picked up on time and weren’t back till around 5pm so it’s certainly a full day but at no point did it seem long and drawn out as there was so much to see. The lunch stop was excellent. The espetade and salad were first class! Would have no hesitation in using this company again on our next visit.

Best tours with the best guides. Thank you hit the road - This was our 2nd tour with the hit the road team, this time we did the east tour with the fantastic Fabio, again a fountain of knowledge took us to see some fantastic sites , pico de Areeiro was covered in cloud and was not good for taking some beautiful photos but Fabio found us plenty of other options so we could take photos of this beautiful island. I can not recommend the hit the road team enough. We did both tours on the east and west and hits hard to choose which side is the best. We will definitely rebook with the team on our return hopefully to do a tasca tour !

Brilliant day out - We found this from a great YouTube video about the top 5 mistakes tourists make in Madeira. Great video and we visited the website and booked this tour. Nuno picked us up from our hotel at 0830am and then picked up one other couple. So 4 in his Land Rover Discovery Mk1. A great vehicle as well did some off roading on the tour. Nuno was a great host. Charming. Knowledgeable. Funny. Great knowledge. We went to all the places described though to make the most of the visibility he adjusted the order. Lunch, with a great view was “local” and amazing. Poncha was made fresh and lovely. 100% recommended

They are the best! - We did East and West tours, both times we had Fabio as our guide and he was brilliant! The tours are fun, adventurous, and full of breathtaking views. Fabio was attentive to our wishes, flexible, and passionate about showing the island not only from the "tourist" side. He is a confident driver and a nice friendly person! Communication with the company was fast and effective too. If you are still unsure about this company, check out their YouTube channel. This is how we found them and never regret our choice! Thank you, HTRT for this amazing experience!

Outstanding Madeira Jeep Tour - A memorable, fun and varied day hosted by Tiago! An excellent way to see the real Madeira: ponchos with the locals, a pretty levada walk, a rum distillery visit with tasting, lunch overlooking the dramatic northern coastline, off-roading and the breathtaking views from Pico di Arieiro. Tiago is a first-class host. He makes it a relaxing and fun trip, shares his vast knowledge and expertise freely, and is phenomenal in negotiating the on and off road driving! We’ll be back! Thank you, Tiago!

Fun packed day - We were picked up promptly at 8:45, and there was a family of 3 already in the jeep. Unfortunately, the last person we were supposed to collect was a no-show and cost us time waiting 😞. So begun our journey around part of Madeira, which was a mixture of sightseeing, fun facts, and off-road adventure 😀. We were lucky with the weather, which was perfect for our trip up to Pico do Arieiro. Nuno, our guide, was good throughout the day and constantly swapped the seating arrangements to keep it fresh. We tried a poncha drink for the first time. Did a short Levada walk, off-road driving, which was exciting and fun. Lunch was a nice pit stop with excellent views, followed by a trip to a rum distillery a quick photo opportunity and back to the hotel at about 17:40 to end a memorable day...roll on for the west coast tour.
